Yeah, I was. Then I thought about what I wanted from a car and what it boiled down it is that while having a 996tt would be fun, that was a step in the wrong direction for a car that would see the track every month on season.
I already drive the M3 like a sissy because I don't want to wreck it on track and the 996tt would be even worse as it's a more expensive car.
I figure I can sell/part out the M3 and have enough money to buy a 951S, pay off Mindy's car and then get rid of our 20 year old Jeep for a 10 year old 4Runner or something.
So I get a fun street/track car, a better SUV and get out of a little debt. Mission accomplished!

I wasn't really impressed with the 996 GT3 I drove. Don't get me wrong, the performance was good, steering awesome, exhaust sound sublime, but the interior and build quality inside were shockingly poor. Very poor plastics used inside, lots of rattles, etc. I was disappointed, particularly since it's a $100,000+ car new.
Apparently all the 996's are like that...

Ok, so I don't speak for John (or know him personally, or even own any of his products...yet), and even though I know (based on what I've heard) there is a pretty good chance he'll help you out... I wouldn't blame him for telling you to go stuff it either.
Reason I say this is because my best friend owns a speed shop (Nasty Performance, they do LS1 stuff), he sells a lot of custom parts (mostly 1000+hp capable fuel systems.) Lately he's been taking a lot of calls from people who bought his stuff secondhand, looking for product support. Now he didn't make ANY money off of these guys, and he most likely already offered support to the original buyer. He's been getting so many calls lately that he's starting to get fed up, and has started offering less and less support to these guys when they call. The challenge is that he doesn't know exactly what the guy has in front of him, doesn't know exactly what was sold (since most of the kits he sells are custom made to order.) Some of the higher end Vitesse stuff, as I understand, is that way too.
Just something to keep in mind. Might be better off buying it new from Vitesse directly if you're going to need changes made, instead of taking advantage of John's good nature and running the risk of him changing his tune around here.

John has always been helpful in guiding second hand owners. This is part of the reason Vitesse has a good name. If the support is only good with the original owner then the value of the goods is diminished!
