Default notchy clutch pedal

I noticed a couple weeks ago that my clutch pedal has developed a "notchy" feeling.. which I suspect may be the needle bearings on the clutch fork. Other than that, the clutch feels pretty good and I've never had it slip or anything. I don't have records on it being replaced but the previous owner claimed it was done recently. Is there any way to shoot some grease into those bearings or am I looking at a total clutch job here?

Sounds like your diagnosis is accurate. and yeah, it's a bellhousing off job...

Edit: just remembered, the pivot pin might be notched too. I have pics at my computer at home... that's $30.00 and at most it's "starter/slave cylinder off".

edit 2: https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...ghlight=clutch found the pic, and associated thread.

Sure it's not the hydraulics? When the hydraulics first start to leak, it develops a little sticky/notchy point about an inch or two from the top of the pedal travel.

I would check for air in the line first. Bleeding your clutch is way easier than taking everything apart down there.

forgot to mention.. it gets worse once the car is warmed up. I guess it couldn't hurt to bleed the lines and see if that helps.

I wouldn't say 'definitely'. Corrosion in the cylinder (master or slave) can start to feel like this.

I've learned never to say "definitely" with regard to any problem described on this board. Just when you're confident some guy has a bad CV joint, he finds a zebra wrapped around an axle making the noise....

Thought I would update this thread for posterity... I bled the clutch fluid and the notchiness is completely gone.
