951 to 968 Conversion

I would be interested in seeing more details on fitting an 968 front on a 951.
All my front sheet metal is a bit rough and I planned on replacing it anyway. Might be kinda fun to put the 968 front on. Fab work does not scare me off.

So is the engine bay in a stock 968 smaller than the 951? It always looked like it.

I'm looking at a complete 968 front end including hood, fenders, front bumper and side skirts for a reasonable price but wonder if it's a difficult job to make these parts fit?
I guess it's mostly the fenders that's tricky since the 951 has a straight bolt-line and 968 is turning into the engine bay.

Yup. Triangle shaped adapters can be made to bolt the fenders on. I've seen this done on a race car, so the front core support area had been removed and replaced, but the concept is the same.

anyone tries this better be prepared to do some cutting... and after removing the entire front end off the car, weld on the front of a 968 that was crashed in the back. either that, build yourself your own front end... but, whichever you choose, you'd better fit the fenders, to within +/- about 3/32 of an inch of perfect from one side of the car to the other. that's going to be a lot of pain and suffering when you build it only to have to build it 3 more times before you're home. be prepared to go all the way — otherwise, destroy a perfectly good 944T.

Below - first 2 pics show where the 968’s front clip has been cut and welded into place:
Below - shows how the rear light apertures need to be cut open to allow the rear bumper to mount into place:
Below - the customer has chosen to use our 993/968 headlight conversion front fenders (car ready for paint now):
Below - a completed customer’s car below from Norway also with our 993/968 headlight conversion front fenders:
I can post pics if anybody is interested when the car is finished in the next couple of weeks
Best regards,
Mark

Nice!
What did you do to install the side glass? I heard sheet metal work has to be done, but haven't been able to physically investigate what needs to happen.

Removing 968 quarter glass is real PITA and all people I know whom have done this have always opted to buy the 968 glass new from Porsche which is not cheap but does make a nice clean 944 update.
Unfortunately I know of nobody on RL whom has done this but I might be able to get some pics to post of the process
Cheers,
