My car is lightly modified, and today it was really chilly in NY. I was coming off the toll at TPZ bridge and at about 50mph I decided to nail the gas. My right rear tire lost track and i thought i was going to nail an X5 that was by my side. well my rear tires are 245's. I'm probably running 275hp. Did this ever happen to you guys, I'm thinking probably oil?

a wider tire wouldnt have made that much of a difference in that situation...I have 265's on the rear of my car and going straight down a road the other day...on a cold day my car slide about a foot back and forth

The tires you have on can also be a major factor. I have 295 Michelin Sport Pilots and they get really slick at anything less than 80 degrees F. They stick much better when they are warm. I wouldn't drive on them if it gets below 50.(thank God I live in Phoenix)(BTW, just to be a *****, I'll tell you guys up north what I did this afternoon. I was washing my car in a tee shirt and jeans. I almost decided to wear shorts but didn't want to take the time to change.
)
Anyway, most summer tires lose grip fast when it gets cold out. Be careful.

Summer tires on a road that is near freezing will do it every time. It doesn't help that these cars feel like they are making a lot more power the colder it gets. I once touched my brake a little too hard at 70 on the highway and locked up all four. I don't drive in the cold any more.

Do you have an lsd, if not that would explain it also. I get my car to step out in second and third quite often but the car remains in control since mostly only one wheel is spinning =[ It's a double edged sword really. With only one wheel spinning the other is able to keep you under control instead of both wheels spinning, yet on the other hand having an lsd would distribute the traction more evenly so that you might not spin at all. Oh well.
