Default Water Pump Stud Question

I have a question about the orientation of the water pump studs. Actually one stud in particular. There are four studs for the water pump ( postions 2, 3, 4, & 8 in photo below) and seven bolts, one M6 X 70 mm (#1) and six M6 X 35 mm. Please note that in the picture below the studs are not installed, just standard M6 X 35 mm hex heads. One of the four studs is 3 mm shorter than the rest, 44.67mm in the photo. I did not notice this upon removal and I am not sure about the proper placement. I have included some photos below, which should help make this more clear. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I don't remember which stud went where, but I did write down the install heights for the studs, which should allow you to puzzle it out. These we're measured on an '86 block:
Top 3 studs closest to head: 34mm
Lower stud: 31mm
Also in case anyone is interested I have the install heights for the other studs on the front of the block:
Belt Tensioner Stud (measured on '86 block): 81mm
Spring Tensioner Studs (measured on '88 block): 31mm

Well, that would indicate that the short one should go into the #8 position. I am assuming by installed height, you mean that you installed the stud into the block and measured the length afterwards. Thanks for the information! I will install and check what dimensions I get afterwards.

FSM reccomends Loctite 270, but Clarke's reccomends only on the nuts for the studs. I have heard that there is an issue with one of the holes breaking through and if not sealed properly will leak. I am most likely going to use Loctite Blue Surface Intensive.

Those measurements came from what I believe were original factory installed studs. Of course I can't say for certain they were original, but they looked it to me.

I installed mine with anti-seize.

I don't think it would be a good idea to use anti-seize for most parts on my engine, as I have a solid lifter cam set-up. Thanks again for the length information!

Those are my original studs. I removed all hardware and sent to LR to be cleaned and zinc chromated. However, that was a waste of time and money as I am now creating a polished SS complete engine hardware kit for our cars. I will post the details when completed. Probably too expensive for most, but I am sure some people that are picky like myself will see the need for such a kit. It will probably add at least 10 HP!
