Default Bought another block to go into my car - weekend of 19th

Here are a couple threads on the background of what I've been dealing with.

https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...need-help.html

Can't seem to figure out the leakdown and compression issues with my block so I purchased another motor off ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

I am hoping it arrives by early next week. I am planning on putting it into the car on the weekend of the December 19th and 20th. If anyone wants to come by and watch or help that would be great. Will be doing it in a shop with a lift thankfully. I've already pulled the intake and cam tower back off my block. Plan on pulling the head and exhaust before I roll it over to the shop.

I've been trying to decide if I should go ahead and put on this big valve head or go back in at a later time and do that. I suppose I'll bolt on the new turbo for sure.

Damn, if I were near I'd join in on the fun. Best of luck and I hope everything goes smoothly!

Checked with Mark and he thinks that the motor should be here on Monday or Tuesday. I've been thinking I should track down a new clutch.

While you are in there...

the list can be almost endless. Definitely reseal the new motor, new belts, new clutch and maybe motor mounts. I would leave the head alone and drive it for a while to see how it runs before i spent any more money on it.

If i lived closer i would lend a hand.

Great price on a complete motor. I wish something similar had been around when I was looking a few years ago.

Josh, PLEASE put in a new set of rod bearings, OK? Trust me, you will need them this June because I want to finish what I started with you at Road Atlanta. A set of Hoosiers would be nice too if you show up with those too.

Yee Hah - motor came in yesterday! Bought a new 951 sport clutch for a good deal on ebay - $180 plus shipping. I have the head back off of the motor still in my car. Maybe I can just slip the short block out the top and then put in the 88 short block and bolt everything back on.....

Went over to the shop last night. Pulled a bunch of stuff off the motor that I don't need or already have. Got the fuel rail, intake, cam tower off. Still need to pull the head and the turbo and AC compressor. I suppose I should do a leak down on the block before pulling the head. Hope that goes ok. Does it really matter where the piston is for leakdown if the cam tower is off so that the valves are both shut?
