WOW, I was surprised by the quality of the work going on today!

Aaron, when all is said and done, you are going to have one of the sickest engine bays around, bar none.. I will work on some wiring diagrams for your fogs... or maybe I'll just build you a setup like I did...

And please tell your wife it was a real pleasure meeting her, I realized I didn't say thank you for the hospitality and that it was a pleasure to meet her somewhere around 234 on my way home... She makes a very good cup of coffee BTW...

I got home in time to meet my wife and kids out for dinner, 95 was running 80+ in the weather!

Here are a few pics of the work accomplished so far, and a huge thanks goes out to JohnKoaWood for his help.

Unfortunately, I will be out of town on every weekend leading up to Christmas. I'd like to get together again in January to start/finish the top end and start getting her ready to go back in the car. So far John, INURGRL and Eyeball Kid have expressed interest in coming out.

As John can attest, I certainly don't have a huge workspace, but it's protected from the elements and as clean as I can keep it with two huge dogs in the house.

Also, if anyone is specifically interested in helping drop the engine back in the car, please let me know. I've already got a lift reserved, and will probably set the exact date once I have the top-end finished.

If you need any tools, shoot me a PM. If I don't have it I probably can get it. Plus I am pretty close.

Also if you want any Snap-On stuff I can get that pretty easily.

Doug,

Thanks for the offer, hopefully I'll have all the right tools and won't have to take you up on it. If you've ever put a 951 engine back in, insights would be greatly appreciated!

Did you pull the trany? If you pull the trany, you will have a lot more room to slide the drive shaft back in.

Tranny + exhaust are still in the car. Pulled the engine in the driveway, will be using a shop to re-install. Not too worried about driveshaft clearance because EVERYTHING in front of the engine is out, except the front bumper support.

It was to protect the pistons and block. Since the head is no good anyway, its just a place saver.

Costas,
Had to get a few headaches out of the way before I could continue with the wrenching part. Purchased a used 951 head and had it recondiditioned, then two of the water pump studs broke when I tried to remove them. Just picked up the block/head from the machinist yesterday. I need to check with my better half tonight, but I'd like to set something up for this weekend. I'd like to do a final fit on the oil pan, install the head, install the cam tower and install the front of the engine. Let me know if you're free this weekend.
