what are your plans Patrick for the car? I would suggest that you give it a little time. After I wrecked I went straight out to buy a tub, but should have looked around a little more (happy with where I ended up but should have spent more time planning)

Dan, I'll have to wait and see how screwed I am financially and go from there. I have contingency plans if I decide to go ahead and build another car but this will all depend on finances.

Patrick,

Absolutely awful news about your car, it was really fabulous. My sincere condolences, I understand all too well what you are going through. Change the schedule but don't give up on your dreams.

WOW... just WOW.

I grieve your loss, and hope you a speedy recovery (what became of the tests the next day?)

Your car truly was a source of constant inspiration...

Makes me glad I decided NOT to drop off my comprehensive coverage.. it is pricey, but... WOW

I really am sorry man, and I hope you find that silver lining soon, and hope all else is well... good luck... keep us posted...

Sure glad you didn't get seriously hurt or cut up in the accident, looks like some of the windows are shattered. Sounds like you will be paying some bills for some time, Keep your chin up.

Would this be a bad time to request parts?

Jk Patrick. Very sorry to see this. I know how it felt when I totaled my '91 S2. However, I brought her back from the dead and she's doing amazing! Just be thankful you have your life. After all, it is just a car like you said. You can always buy another car, not another life.

That insurance policy sounds very scary.
I really hope it turns out better than you anticipate.
I guess the old saying "prepare for the worst, hope for the best" has some relevancy.

You had a great car Patrick, and I know that I'm speaking for all 951 enthusiasts when I say that we really want to see you build another car with all your trick parts!

Thanks very much for all your kind words guys. I really didn't intend to hijack this thread, but it's humbling to hear such generous thoughts. I hope to be like some of you guys that have resurrected or started new project cars after some adversity. When my feet touch bottom, I'll know what I'm dealing with. In the meantime, keep pushing your own goals and I can gain some inspiration through these.

Patrick,

Glad your ok first of all.

I am in a parallel predicament as you and am just "waiting" I was able to find some good deal on parts and may be acquiring a tub for a great price. Again, I am taking my time to think things through and evaluate my next steps.
One thing I have going for me in the states is.......believe it or not is the holidays. People tend to allow room for negotiation during these times to come up with extra cash.

Good Luck

Good to hear Alex. I think all of you guys should keep us posted on progress of your builds. We should have a 'Graph-o-Meter' to gauge progress. First to finish gets a Gold star. lol
The advantage of starting fresh is the possibility of doing things differently or better & safer. If I do another build, it will be with a proper weld in cage. Seeing what 45mph can do to a car makes me even more aware of that factor.

To the original topic, my halloween horror pictures.....

A dismembered (or dis-k-membered) car with minor oil feed problem, small exhaust leak and some sort of motor mount issue...

^ That motor mount carnage looks very familiar. Just change mine out, it was the original
