Euro bumpers are the way forward for you guys in the states.
Now get on and remove those ugly side light markers front and back.........

I actually like the side markers, the rear bumper is another story.

Very nice.
Just curious, How does it compare in weight to the US version?
The specific number = ****laod!

I have one in the closet. I'll try and weigh it. However. it is certainly less strong than the metal bumper. I've been meaning to install it for like...6 years.
Now I have too...freaking Greg...grumble...grumble!

I'm considering filling in the bolt holes for the rubber strip to make a smooth bumper. Anyone know what works best to fill in those bolt holes?

I can chime in and say the GT racing bumper saves about 25lbs. Id suspect the euro bumper is about 20lbs of weight savings.

Greg - it looks great...
I bought mine on ebay.uk also and brought it back on the plane from London following a recent business trip! I paid about $40 for the bumper & brackets - but the rubber strip was less than perfect, so I ordered one from Sunset. The bumper is being painted this week, along with the Euro S2 hatch spoiler, 968 mirrors & door handles.
Can't wait to get all of these improvements on the car.

Thanks for the comment, do you think this is correct that the Euro bumper is only 5lbs heavier than the GT racing FG one? I am going back to UK for Xmas and may pick one up if that is the case! anyone ever weighed one??

I'm sold. Anyone got one for sale? Got my 968 mirrors and handles to install while it's parked for the winter--why not one more thing?

Dan, I'd bet that's pretty damned close.

I stumbled across a thread where Techno Duck said it was 22 pounds lighter. Jon, care to confirm?

I have to say, the stock bumpers now look like Jay Leno's chin to me...

The turbo & S2 euro bumpers have a thicker rub strip as Techno Duck mentioned. That's because they have a removable cover that allows access to a rear tow point that accepts the tow eye like the front. This requires a different bumper reinforcement, 944 505 039, which sells for $182.40 from Sunset. I decided I'd lived w/o a rear tow point before and didn't care to spend as much on this as I did on the bumper itself. But, it's available if you want to go that way.

Since I seem to have stirred up interest, here's a complete parts list:

477 807 131 A - Bumper reinforcement (mount) X 2 w/o the rear tow point x1 if using tow point $42.50/ea from Sunset
944 505 039 01 - Bumper reinforcement (mount) with receptacle for tow eye $182.40/ea from Sunsest

Hardware:
M10 x 60 X 2 - These attach the bumper to the mounts
Lock rings
Washers

M8 x 20 X 4 - These attach the mounts to the body. You could reuse the old hardware for this
Lock rings/washers

Oh, one other tid bit that I had a hard time figuring out: To remove the old bumper you need to remove the under spoiler/diffuser to gain access to the small screws that attach the end caps. There are obvious screws underneath the under spoiler/diffuser, the less obvious ones can be accessed from the cubbies (that's the part I scratched my head on)

That looks great Greg.

Does the euro bumper use shocks, or solid mounts? I've got the carbon fiber GT bumper and wouldn't mind switching to something more substantial.
