argh you guys are killing me. Its a tough call. I mean I guess its possible I could just park the damn thing and store it. Get to fixing it when I can. I just don't know. The center the car was at was top notch and im sure the bill was pretty hefty that's why they totaled it. Getting it fixed isn't the issue so much as proper insurance guys.

I mean if I can only have liability on the car that will not work! I have to have a fully insured car. Otherwise ALL this money that I'd dump into it would just be lost all over again. I can't risk that. As far as buying a new tub. I like my 968 rear. I think the stock 944 body is very dated looking and don't really care for it that much. I wouldn't be happy in a regular 944 bodied car.

You do not need to have full coverage.

It obviously didn't help much in this situation.

What exactly would you 'lose' by not having full coverage - the repair of the body?
If it gets smashed you still have all of your $$ parts - the only real loss is the 968 rear, which you will lose also by doing anything right now other than fixing it.

What is wrong with an agreed value policy from someone like Hagerty? I am looking at this for my street car.

x2. My mom had her 86 insured thru them and you get X amount of miles per year - You can have more, just pay more. She was paying ~100/yr for 5K miles. You can get more miles or your odo gear just might strip out

Ilikemy944 said it best. You had full coverage on the car this time and that obviously didn't help in such a MINOR crash...so what difference is full insurance going to make it another crash? You'll get another check then? That's the only difference. Any way you slice it, liability or not...if that car got hit again, it'd be totaled again.

You can't be scared to drive your car. People look at me crazy when I tell them I'd LOVE to have a '71 Hemi Cuda Convertible and that I would drive that thing all the time. That's an extremely rare car with a huge price tag. I wouldn't be scared to drive it. You have to enjoy your cars for what they are. In the end they're only cars.

Full coverage ment I got to send them receipts and they doubled their total loss offer. Now its not state Farm(from what I hear they cover a minimum of 70% as long as you have the receipts and its documented with photos) BUT, it did help out greatly. Haggerty would be the place to go for a agreed value policy no doubt. At this point I have my eyes on something else.

I may end up keeping the car and then fixing it at a later date. Anyone wanna store it for me for a few years? lol.

haha. We could probably work something else. Its just we put the house on the market today and once that sells im going to loose my ability to keep it safe and out of the weather. If I was going to keep it I'd need to know it was stored away someplace safe.

Im surprised that the insurance company didnt take the car after making a payout on it... Sometimes they want the title to send it out for a Destruction Title... So consider yourself lucky..! Cause you got paid and got to keep the car..!

I sent them 32k in paperwork in the past 15months. They needed to come off of their wallet to avoid lawyers getting involved.

He lives upstate, but hangs out in the inner harbor...

Good deal getting paid and keeping the car... I guess they figured letting you keep the whole car is easier than letting you remove all the non OEM parts....
