So it has been apart for some time now... I pulled off the cam tower and all the lifters seem good. The buttons are hard, with the exception of 1 that takes moderate thumb pressure to depress.

Would a totally dead lifter be obvious?

I was really hoping it was the lifters...I lost most motivation to work on the car.. Not sure if I am gonna replace the lifters just because (unlikely), put it back together and see what it does or start parting.
