Default Tech Content: AN Hoses and Fittings for clutch cylinder hose

For those looking to replace the OEM hard pipe and soft mushy hose with AN fittings and hoses, heres a howto....

www.classictube.com has what you need, and its DOT approved. They also have DOT approved braided brake hoses. Theres no kit for the clutch hose, but these parts work.

2X SBH8070 - -3AN Male to 12MM X 1.0 Male Concave Seat
1x SBH8016 - -3AN Male X -3AN Male Union
1x SBH9022 - 22" Braided Hose -3AN Female to 90° Female
1x SBH9024 - 24" Braided Hose -3AN Female to 90° Female
Total $55-60USD.

The fittings fit in the stock master and slave cylinder, and the 90° hose ends attach to those. The male union is to join the two hoses together, since they dont have one hose with a 90° part at each end.

Mount both the cylinders, then run the hose along where the stock hoses ran and down, making sure to clear the exhaust and all that.

My favorite result of doing the hoses this way, is that it makes bleeding brilliantly easy.... You can carefully wiggle the slave cylinder up between the firewall and bellhousing, and sit it on the intake or fender for bleeding. This gets the slave above the master, and turns bleeding into a 5 minute job rather than 5 hours.

Obviously, DONT PUMP THE PEDAL WITH THE SLAVE BLEEDER CLOSED!!!! I strongly suggest using a power bleeder!!!

Thanks for the DIY parts post. $50 says a kit, virtually identical, will be for sale sometime soon by someone looking to make a quick buck.

Nice thanks for the parts list. It helps that they are 10 minutes from my house

I need to rebuild my slave cylinder and was thinking about doing this to make the bleeding easier. The only thing is it seems like a downgrade to replace the hard lines with rubber. Does it affect the pedal feel at all?

Hey Rogue.. did you use the classic tube place or somewhere else? I had my order ready on their site and then it quoted me $26 for ground shipping, which seemed a little excessive for something that could fit in a padded envelope. At almost $90 total I'm not sure it's worth it.

I used a local place - Whistler Bearing. I would bet you could find someone local to you as well.
I think it was about $50 total.

Would have been MUCH easier BEFORE you installed the motor... but sure man.. compared to what you have done so far, this is a walk in the park.

Let me know and I can swing by whenever.. unless I am out of town...
