LS7 ZO6. Drove one yesterday

A 924 outrun a 09 Z06-maybe off a cliff; what a ridiculous comparison! I would like to see this infamous 924 vette killer. The C6 Z06 is an awesome car stock and with minor mods can be much faster. They are also very comfortable, easy to drive and roomy. I am 6'5 250 and fit very well in the new vettes; if I had the cash it would be my choice.

I'm sure that is quite possible, as there are many modded cars that are very fast. I'm just amazed how fast my stock '09 ZO6 is, and still comes with a 100,000 mile/5 year transferable GM powertrain warranty.
What happens when your car has problems from too much turbo boost?

Now, it you go back in time and put the 951 vs the top cars of that era, maybe me a couple , maybe could hold a candle to the 951 and the Vette wasn't in that list.
But even today a fairly modified 951 still a awesome car, with it's 50/50 weight distribution log drag coefficient, small frontal area, etc. Very few cars can give you the fun factor as the 944 turbo, very few.
I have said this once maybe twice, There is only two kinds of people in this world, those who drive 951 and the rest, the pure mortals who drive anything else and sir you don't drive a 951.

I love my modded Turbo S. My biggest challenge in it is keeping my Lic. All good so far V1 equipped of course. I let my wife take to wine day in Carson City over the weekend all went well.
I noticed though that she short shifted it at 3000 rpm!!!
I was worried about my poor car getting a pick up in the a$$!
Anyway I noticed on E-bay when you look at the older Corvettes 88 89 you see a lot of them with well under a 100000 miles? So what people but them and don't drive them? My favorite part on the Vettes is the flip up front end. Tons of space to work.
Anyway I it seems like if you don't like to shift or your just lazy a Vette is the way to go. I never considered the 951 very revie? But I guess it is. Still working to keep mine off 7000. Chipped of course.

the Z06 is a great car, amazing value...but you can't compare it to a car 25 years newer...

The 951 has a cult of it's own, it goes as far as some freaks do love it's design so much that swap vette's engines into them. Yea I know the ls series engines does provide smooth reliable power. Now watch this 2.5l in action and sir I tell you, I would not change the experience for that of the Z.

I haven't done any videos for awhile. The battery in our camera has taken a crap. I know how you loved those "high resolution" vids
I've just been driving and dealing with a bunch of other OT issues. Not much time for fiddling with the cars.

I love the GT3, and almost pulled the trigger on one before I bought my ZO6 (my third Corvette). In the end, and besides scraping the front end constantly on our crappy PA roads in the GT3, I went for the feel and sound of the 8 cylinder engine. The lesser dollar outlay didn't hurt either.
A fully loaded '09 ZO6 stickers for about $84-85,000, and due to our lousy economy, it's fairly easy to now buy a new one discounted for about $70-72,000. The 2010's did not go up much, and are also being discounted already. They now offer launch control in the ZO6 and all Corvettes for 2010. This should be an interesting feature.

I didn't last very long on the CorvetteForum... most of the guys were *********. Old dudes with attitudes, and they all seemed to hate the fact that I was ~23 and could afford a new Z06 (hey what can I say, I was young, single, no bills, so why not spend a bunch of money on my car?) I found myself hanging out with a bunch of F-body guys. Even though my GM days are long since behind me, I still stay in regular contact with quite a few guys from the MFBA (Midwest F-Body Assoc.)

HAHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAH.
That is all I can say about the thread as a whole. AMAF II HAHAHAHAHHA... Classic
Back to my on topic discussion with Cory: Why watch the movie. I have the car to drive. The boost hits hard at ~2800 rpms and then at ~4500 rpms it starts to drop. This has been discussed many times. You said that "An n/a car just can't increase it's acceleration through the RPM's" But that's flat wrong. Many N/A cars have been called "peaky." Many turbo cars are described as "mid-range torque monsters." k26/6 951s actually lose TQ and HP in the upper rpms and the acceleration doesn't keep increasing through the rpms. It decreases. You said "ALL" turbo cars, no matter how "slow of a turbo or boosted car," but our beloved 951 dies in the top end (with a K26/6).
