^^ I understand what you're saying. I have experience with high HP cars, but I just set a number for a goal to meet. "Step 1. Set a goal....". That means, I would not hate a car with 370rwhp. 400 seems to be "the number" for modern sports cars. It might be a futile fight, but I'd like my 25 year old car to hang with modern cars on the track.

I've PMed Chris White to see what he feels about this. He's been recommended by several people already.

Take into account the weight of the turbo and I/C, and they are the same.

Choosing a 3.0 or an LS swap with simply a HP goal, is not a very good way to choose. They are completely different animals with a completely different power delivery, responsiveness, feel, and sound. And both will take way more $$ than you budget!

Thanks Max, but I think I have the LS swap covered. There's a "kit" available and several forums just for the LS swaps.

The good thing about the LS engines, is you can get a TON of parts from ebay, and there are hundreds of online retailers that have everything you can imagine. The LS engines are everywhere!

I'm finding 2.5 and 3.0L 4cylinder Porsche engine parts are a little harder to come by lol.

Ahhh yes, the voice of actual experience...

I've never actually added up my receipts, and its a fuzzy line between "engine building costs" and "nice to have parts" costs, but your wallet doesn't know the difference between the two anyway.
