Default strange hole????

I have found a tapped screw hole just between the right balance shaft housing and the front mounting hole to the heat shield. What is it for? Attachment 377643

Do you have the auxiliary oil cooler?

I have looked at other pictures here on Rennlist and not one has this hole. It seems to be tapped from the inside out. Wierd! Well anyway I noticed a bad oil leak, I thought that my oil pan gasket went out and was not looking forward to the repair. As a last resort I started the car up and crawled under to see exactly where it was comming from. That is when I found this threaded hole. It is not even metric.. that is when I knew that it was not factory but why??? Anyway I just used some JB weld to close it up... Hope that works...

After thinking about it for a bit, I bet that the previous owner retapped a bolt hole for the oil pan baffel alittle to deep. I bet the previous owner of the car was very frustrated when he spent over $4000 in oil leak repairs only to have a small hole in the block just above the oil pan as well as having the cam housing gasket torn with a 1" gap. So sad for him. And Yes it was a huge oil mess when I picket it up. Not any more!

Ok just an update on my strange hole.
I am resealing my oil pan after leaking with only about 500 miles on my car and found that the crank cradle is missing all 7 of the bolts from one side and 5 from the other. I had a machine shop rebuild the motor here and they just left out the bolts.
As it turns the strange hole is one of the bolts that was too long. I would guess that it was probably them that put too long of a bolt and tapped it clean through.
Well anyway I have some bolts coming form Parts Heaven.
Any one know what to torque these bolts to?

I have not contacted them no do I think that I will. What good will it do. I just hope that my motor will be ok. I have only driven it about 500 miles sence and really have not pushed it very hard. I have only been running off of my WG spring pressure of about 10 psi and have only hit 6500 once or twice.
It seems to be ok right now! What do you guys think?
