Yeah Tom's is one of my favorite 968's of all time. Best color, perfect wheels, super clean ls1 install, tons of power. Just a perfect car imho (Id throw on a splitter though)

That's a mean looking 968 and I bet it doesn't get any kinder when you turn the key!
Lowered with the classic '5-Star'. Hard to beat this combo.

I built that car for my brother 4 years ago and it in Nice! I wish I have the $$$ to buy it but I would have to sell the 968 and am just not willing to part with it. The car at 35K is a deal; it has a custom dry sump, motons, RA control arms, race preped 383 LS1, custom cage, the list goes on and on. I have seen this car play with 996/997 Cup Cars and give them fits. If anyone is really interested and want to know more detail send me a PM and I can tell you more. I will hate to see this car sell and leave my family. 450hp is the RWHP, the Dyno tune was done on a 100+ degree day and the motor was new so that # propably a little low.

nice work!
just some questions from an uninformed fan... so forgive me if i offend anyone.
1) could the car be lowered more? it seems really high off the ground...
2) what's the reason you go wide body when you only get 1" wider rims? (can fit 11" on stock 944)
3) do you keep the rear panels bolted on so you can easily replace them if damaged? (instead of finishing them over with fiberglass/filler/paint)

The photo of the car was taken right after the engine conversion was completed and we had not finished the suspension set up. The lowered ride height required custom tie rod ends to get the geometry correct with the Racers Edge control arms longer pins.
Rear wheels are 12" with a 335 tire or a 315 depending any wider would not be beneficial. You can get an 11" rim under a stock fender but a 295 in the biggest tire that will fit. look at some of the other pics in the post and you will see the track ready ride height.
Rear panels were not bonded and smoothed as the intent of the car was for track use only so we spent time and money in other areas. They would be easier to replace in the event of contact as well.

The car was built for DE/track days use and was a hell of a lot less $$ than a Cup Car; the maintainance/performance factor is hard to beat. I am sure a 450rwhp porsche engine would cost 2-3 times the than the motor in the car and the cost to maintain and refresh would be likewise. There are A lot of 951's with a lot that 35K that have been smoked by this car

Is this car still for sale? Was talking to a local member today about V8 conversions and remembered seeing this ad or thread.
I saw Pat's car at Pocono several years ago and Tom's 968 at Barber 2 years ago. Both cars are beautifully done, go like stink, and sound better than any "real" 951 could ever sound.

A fellow from the Great White North bought the car and was running it at the Edmonton Indy this past weekend. It was quick but had a catastrophic failier on Fridays qualifing race. Not sure what happent to it but was told that he was ona new S tranny as the tranny in the car failed. He has been tracking it a fair amount, I believe.
