Default Power Steering still don't work

Some background. Working on a 86 951. I had a leaking input shaft seal on the power steering rack, but power steering that worked. Also the fluid was getting very foamy in the reservoir. I figured it was time for a rebuild. Purchased the seal kit fom Paragon, removed the rack and dropped it off at my local Porsche mechanic. When I installed the rebuilt rack and topped off the fluid, everything leaked out from both sides output shaft seals. Leaked out under gravity, I never even started it up. He really screwed somthing up. I then ordered a really nice looking factory rebuilt rack and rebuilt the pump myself. Installed everything, new tie rods, boots, belt, new resrevoir, everything. No leaks but still no power steering. I then ordered a new used pump from oaklahoma. Installed that and still, no power steering. What Gives? No the belt is not loose. Can I test the pressure on the pump? I see there is a plug one side. Any advice, ideas? Thanks.

Not to throw out the simple stuff but did you bleed the air out of the system? It is as simple as going hard stop to hard stop until the air bubble stop and the fluid level stops rising. If it rises more than say 1/4" or 10mm there is still air in there. Not sure about pressure testing.

Beyond that I need to think it over better. I have a rack on the deck to look at- Cheers, Mike

Yeah. Lock to lock many times. I don't know if the level is rising, I will have to check that again with a helper. What are the chances the rack is bad? Power assist worked the first time I turned the wheel but peetered out durring bleeding. Clog someplace?

I think you need to prime the pump, after that, with the car running, begin loosening some pressure hoses (SLOWLY) and check if theres pressure. If there is pressure, something is wrong with the rack, if there isnt, its the pump.

There is no change in the fluid level weather the car is on or off. Does that mean anything?

Assuming there is no air bubbles in the system, I would think the fluid tank level wouldn't move much. It would raise some as the fluid heats up and expands, but if the fluid is cold the pump running or not running shouldn't affect the level in the resevior.

the power steering cooler- passenger side under the bumper- tends to get clogged on these cars. Disconnect both ends and blow some compressed air through.

I did the compressed air through the cooler but still no power steering.

I'd check pump output pressure. There is an adapter that fits inline so the gauge can attach & give a reading. Pressure should be 100 to 120 bar at full lock.

Any update?
I wish to check whether related to the blockage of the hoses or not. My problem is, stay the steering neutral and turn right or even full lock to right, no problem.
But, when neutural to full lock to left, then return to neutural position, I heard the squeeze noise and the feeling like something jamming at that position.

What I've done, rebuilt the PS pump, change the PS rack. I've check the reservor the fliud level is stable, no leak at all. Any crew for this?

Are you sure your power and return lines are hooked up properly (not swapped).

I like the idea of cracking the lines at the rack - to see if the pump is pumping.

Only rebulit the pump and replace the rack, didn't do anything to the hoses. You think the return line?
