Question Anyone ever bought a new wastegate from Porsche?

I know the consensus is to buy a Tial and not bother with the factory unit, but I was curious about this as in all my years on Rennlist I've never heard of anyone buying the $1,300 replacement from Porsche. Anyone?

Get the Club Gate from Lindsey. As good as factory new at half (or less) the price.

No.. buy a stock one.? . LOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOL

I would say ONLY if it's a concours vehicle. I see no other reason. It is literally an antique

There's a reason why nobody ever buys the OEM wastegate.

Certainly not longevity. I wonder how many Tials are going on 15+ years and still holding up as well as the stock unit on my '91.

What makes you doubt the longevity of the tials?

That they only became the rage less than 10 years ago and that's not quite 15+ years. I guess time will tell.

Tial should last longer, just compare the materials and construction techniques. Suppose your Tial's Nomex diaphragm does tear, you can rebuild it. Also I'm pretty sure that the cast part of the stock gate is iron where as the Tial's is stainless. It's like comparing the stock bypass valve to the Evolution Motorsports unit. $1300 for a stock gate is a joke, I wouldn't pay more than 200.

Well they seem to be made of better materials. In my experience the stock wastegates do not hold up well. Everyone I have come in contact with was worn out.

Do you have any experience with the tial at all, I mean have you used one or looked at the internals?

Luis, you need to get over the idea that OEM is the best.

To answer your question: yes I have heard of someone getting a new wastegate from porsche, it was an insurance job through a collision shop though.

Then how come Lindsey Racing uses a factory core to build theirs?

Direct from the website...

The first and only approved replacement wastegate for the 944 Turbo approved by Porsche Club of America's PCA Club Racing rules department for use in stock classes. We received word of it's acceptance August 6th, 2002. So from this point out, you can run this on your 944T without being penalized.
If it weren't for the PCA rules, I don't think there is anyway LR would mess with rebuilding 20+ year old wastegates. And judging from the questions I got from LR when I sold them my old WG to use as a rebuild, they have seen their fare share of cracked housings among other issues.
