Default Some recent incar track video.

I was asked to show some video after posting some pics recently.
This was taken the same day as the recent photos. Unfortunately you can see & hear understeer in plentiful amounts and some snap oversteer too, but we managed to dial this out later in the day....except the video battery ran out. It was going noticeably better then.

This was with the old wheels and R spec tyres (Toyo R888) not the nice new slicks, as we'd only just heat cycled them in. Next time.

Cars at the track that day varied from a few Porsches, BMs, Evos, WRXs, Caterhams, Radicals, local V8 muscle, and even a Lancia Delta Integrale. Guess which car spilled oil all over the track. Mumma Mia!

I suddenly found a Radical right behind me leading onto the main straight so naturally I gave it all she had. I actually started pulling away from him so knowing that he'd be all over me in the following corners I slowed to let him past. Wish we had the car setup a little better then. Would have been nice to see how long I could keep sight of him. They do look like an awful lot of fun though.

As usual, there are some moments of jumping on the video. Not sure why this happens when uploading to YouTube. Does drive me nuts!!. Anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

Turn 1 has always been a bit tricky, but the faster you go the more turn in understeer you seem to get (ad infinitum). Later in the day when we had played around and got some more unity with front and rear, I was better able to hang along that whole curve without being pushed wider and wider.

Nice stable video, Patrick. What do you use?
And nice and quiet. Fringe benefits of a streetcar.

Hans I bought a good mount so that holds the camera very well in place. The camera is just one of those older Panasonic types with the little cassette. They are meant to be a lot better for motorsport than ones with a mini hard drive. Seems to work ok, but you loose a lot of quality when uploading to Youtube, plus it does that jerky jumping thing that you see at the end of the video. Not sure why that happens because it's not on the video itself?
The advantage of having some incar video is also to show my mechanic Sean (JET951) where the car is under or oversteering, and you can quite clearly see this. It really makes such a difference when we had it going a lot better in the day. I was getting a lot more of my apex's unlike in these films here.

Perhaps that's what driving like a Kiwi means?

Thanks for sharing your videos. It looks like your car gets around the track pretty well!! Although, I did notice the understeer that you mentioned.

By the way, that track looks very nice. There are some elevation changes, the asphalt looks like it is in very good shape and I like seeing all the green grass and trees.

How long of a drive is this track from where you live?

Patrick,

Great videos. Is that with your 2.5 motor?

Thanks guys. It's all in the name of fun and education. I learn from all the videos I shoot which can only be good.

Jeff you're right in your observation, the track is in good condition and lots of greenery. Not a bad track although there are quite a few off camber corners.

George, yep still the 2.5L motor. After today I am somewhat concerned just how wild the next motor will be and what that will mean on the track. This little one is not too bad as it is.

Thanks John. Coming from someone with quite a library of their own videos, I take it as a compliment.

I think you'll need the 3.0 to keep up with that "radical"

or a "radical" weight loss
