Default New to the game...

wondering who's around my neck of the woods. I'm in the Fresno Ca. area. I have no idea who around here does good work on 951s (plan on doing what I can myself but it'd be nice to know if there's actually skilled ppl around when I get in over my head).

Beer's are on me if you'd like to meet up for some turbo talk....

So far I'm loving RL and my new 87 951!!

I'm in the North Bay. See if you can make it out to Infineon this Wednesday (kind if a long drive from Fresno), a couple of us are going to be doing some runs on the strip. Welcome to RL!

Also there's an SCCA autocross in Oakland tomorrow ...but I think I'm gonna be skiing.

Also a drift trial session in Santa Cruz (not my thing but I hear that some kid with a Callaway 944 Turbo might be there).

Yea for sure, I'm planning to go a bunch this Summer. I haven't been to any PCA events yet but I hear they put on some really good Autocrosses, definitely worth looking into!

That sounds like a great time. The drifting isnt really me either but might still be a good time. Well shot me a line whenever you plan on checking anything out and I'll try my best to get out there. I plan on having my car down for a few...gonna change belts/all of the hoses/water pump/vacum lines. I'm hoping all that wont take too long but since this is my frist time under the hood, I'm expecting the worst. I bought it w/o a lot of history so I wanted to go thru it pretty well. Makes me feel better about getting silly.

SoulF,

When DanR was referring to your 140mph comments it was in reference to this:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is my private prayer for this year...

Dear God,

Please delete all the posts/threads like "I beat a (insert your favorite car here) on the Public Roads, endangering my life - and all around me as I drove like an idiot, doing 100+ MPH on a public road......

All the "I beat some idiot in a (insert your favorite car here) in a road race..." has no place here.

If you want to "drive fast" - do it on the track - and get instruction for doing it "on the track". In short - it will save your car - and probably your life. Not to mention the lives of those who may be killed by you.

If you do take it to the track - you'll be a better driver for it.

How would I know?

I take it to the track - and instruct instructors, before they get in a car with you...

So - PLEASE NO MORE STREET RACING THREADS. Take those to the Honda Forum.

As an FYI - This is *not* a Honda Forum.

Have a wonderful year...

John D.

My apologizes...I sort of figured that after I posted. I just got it (not that thats an excuse) and I'm sure everyone can recall how they felt driving their 951 for their few weeks (actually, I'm starting to think this feeling doesnt fade much with time ) Its out of my system now.

hehe...and no, I do not think it is EVER totally out of your system, that is why we own them

Correct Example:

I simulated [taking] it out today and got her up to a simulated 140mph, cant believe how stable it is at that simulated speed. So much simulated fun!!

OT but I still want to say it. I haven't gone over 100mph on a public road since I was like 17 (and I drive more than my fair share of fast cars). There's plenty of fun to be had at speeds that won't kill you (and everyone in your path). I don't want be a be buzz kill, but ask anyone who's been involved in a high speed accident and they'll tell you that it's not worth it. Stay safe and save the titanium for your car.
