Default S2 LSD transmission install... First impressions... Second Impressions page 3

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW ! ! !

I REALLY like this ALOT ! ! ! It's been awhile since the car was running. Took the intake off to fix an oil leak in the turbo oil feed line, then added a Lindsey three piece crossover pipe and then the car sat through the winter. Recently I Picked up a REALLY nice S2 LSD tansaxle (freshly gone through by Kevin Gross) and got that put in today. Took the car out for the first time in a while and all I can say is...

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW ! ! !

Did I mention,

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW ! ! !

WHY didn't Porsche go with these gear ratios for the 951 from the start ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

really Sid, I find it to be just about right for our tracks around sydney. Eastern creek straight is about 400m long coming out of the last corner in 3rd i end up about 5800-6200 in 5th before my braking zone....depending on how brave i am at the time.

my 951 lsd box has a S2 R&P in it and I love it. really gives you a push out of the corners and still has the harder 1st and 2nd gears

trouble with S2 tranny is that you will hit rev limiter in 5th on anything but a supersmall track.

What about higher hp motors? Do we think that these applications might be better off with the stock 951 box? I love my S2 rp'd 951 box but there is a school of thought that with a high hp motor you won't be getting the most out of the powerband and if you're shifting more v's using the tq you may lose time on the track.
Plus having the stock final drive should put less stress on the rest of the driveline.

In what gear? My traqmate had me at 140 MPH at 6682RPM in 4th gear with 255/40/17 tires and that is with GPS not the speedo.

That sounds pretty fast in 4th Brian. Is that with a standard gearing 951 tranny?

I'm going to do the monticello event in lieu of the WG club race.

But I'll see you on the 6th, the LR race, and cups/saucers
