For a few bucks less from Paragon: http://www.paragon-products.com/prod...elt_912100.htm
Looks sharp and easy to install. My OEM liner got chewed up by some chipmunks that decided the insulation made a great nest material in the winter, so I replaced it last summer with the set from Paragon. I guess the little buggers don't like the aluminized stuff; it got thru the winter untouched.

I think the factory went back to fitting the insulation in the 91 cars because it really does prevent the hood paint from fading. My 90 cab doesn't have insulation and the paint has faded substantially whereas on the 91 the paint has held up wonderfully well in spite of being the factory black, which isn't clear coated.

I need to do this too, I read somewhere here a few years ago that one of us made some out of aluminized bubble wrap - I think with some sort of edging. I stumbled onto the bubble wrap and bought it on a whim and, of course, the project died there. Has anyone ever tried this and could maybe share?... Bruce

I think it's important to keep two things in mind when fitting non-factory material as hood insulation.
1) Fire resistant material.
2) Heat dissipation. It's not the same to reflect heat as to dissipate it. In other words, you want the heat to leave the engine compartment, not be reflected right back into it.
My guess is that foam insulation dissipates heat better than foil, which is why the factory went with it.

Just clean off the old factory foam and spray the under side with heat dispersing paint or high temp ceramic paint.

So I decided to go with this one: http://928leathershop.com/Hood_Liner_Heat_Shields.html
I think is a good value. I like the one from Paragon also, but I think Luis is wright. You don't want it to reflect, you want it to absorb/dissipate the heat. I will let you know when i get it.
