Martini 951

Thank you all for the replies. Part of my intention from the start was to create a car that evoked a response, obviously it was mission-accomplished. To everyone that doesn't think the wheels look good, I completely agree. I loved how they looked on the www.wheeldynamics.com webpage. Who knew that 19" wheels on a 944 made it look like a back-up car for a rap video? My biggest mistake was selling the fuchs right after mounting the Miros. The benefit though is I no longer have problems getting the rear tires to grip. If I could find a nice 5 spoke wheel in 8x17" and 10x17" I would buy them in a hot minute.
As far as the gauges, I tried the LED kit from Jager Engineering and after going through two complete sets in 8 months, I decided that I couldn't deal with the reliability issues. I love the reverse-glow at night, it's very easy on the eyes, but I'll agree that it makes the entire interior seem cheap and "fast and furious". I've looked into getting custom reverse glow gauges done by north hollywood speedo, but I can't afford the price of admission right now.
The hood pads were purchased from Jager Engineering, they've held up amazingly well and still look as good as the day I put them on. 944online.com sells them for about $20-30 less than anyone else, I'd call Ian over there and place an order ASAP. I previously had a Racing Dynamics strut brace mounted, but after upgrading to R134 AC, it would no longer clear the AC lines. That was a sad day when I had to decide between better handling and not melting in the Texas sun.
I fell in love with the Martini look after seeing a picture of a 935 spitting fire. When the perfect 951 for me turned up, and happened to be white, I decided right then that I would have a Martini Porsche too. I'm a little disappointed that the 924 Martini edition was such a let-down in terms of looks and performance, but it was my inspiration to start. My goal is to have a car that looks like one complete package, exterior, interior and engine bay. But without looking like Martini stripes threw up on the car too.
In the end though, beauty is in the eye of the driver. I'm about 85% happy with the way things are now, certainly there are things I would go back and change. The wheels will be swapped out sooner than later, and I'll be replacing the gauge cluster with an eBay item to bring it back to stock appearance. And again, thanks go out to everyone who gave me a comment, good or bad, because it's nice to know that the work got a response.

I'm kind of opposite of everyone else in that I really like the stripes in the interior but don't like the stripes on the exterior. If it were me, I'd lose the Martini logos on the top stripe and leave just the Blues and Reds and then I'd lose the side stripes all together. The side stripes make it too busy for my tastes and I think that busy look detracts from the wheels.

Great looking car, don't let any of the comments here bug ya (sounds like they didn't). It's your car and it looks great!
Are you sure you wanna go Autothority on the MAF? Not trying to rain on anyones parade here but there is WAY better stuff out there now.
As for wheels, have you looked into the 18" carrera 5 spokes?
They are available in 7.5, 8, 9, and 10. Not sure how they'll work on an early offset car but they look great on 944/951s IMO.

Burning Brakes
Keeping with the vintage "Martini" look, go back to the Fuch's and keep interior stripes but install racing style seats.
Good luck and thanks for posting!

Well, I've given great thought to either the LR 17" fuchs wheels or getting some Carrera III wheels and then painting the centers black. For some reason, I'm a *HUGE* fan of 5 spoke wheels that don't look too busy. Unfortunately, the current wheels are too big to look good, but I love the actual look of the wheels. Not too worried about the early offset issue, I've upgraded the hubs to accept later-style wheels. If anyone is looking to off-load some Carrera wheels, please let me know.
