Early to Late suspension swap
So ive grown tired of swapping spacers on and off of my car between the early track phones and the 18" speedlines i have on my car. Ive installed longer studs and use slip on spacers but its just a hassle as well as there are less cheap wheel options around.
I recently purchased the entire suspension setup from an 87 car to swap into mine. A week or two ago it all showed up on my door- front arms, inner tie rods, spindles, hubs, rear trailing arms w/ new bearings, stub axels, hubs and rear rotors. I started by cleaning everything thoroughly and painting it all w/ some Rust Seal paint- kinda like POR15 but not as good. I just dont like bare aluminum how it oxidizes and traps dirt. I finally had an excuse to spend money and bought some Zimmerman crossdrilled front rotors to fit, but i need to order the front wheel bearings and seals still as i found these are alittle nasty looking.
Today i tore everything apart and installed pretty much the whole deal minus the front hubs which i am ordering bearings for monday. I cleaned some things up and resprayed my struts yellow although i couldnt find the super dark yellow that Koni uses, just some krylon crap but it looks much better than before. Included in the pics are some comparison pics like the old 86 front spindles vs. the 87 spindle- not alot bigger but noticably beefier in the bearing area and around the ball joint. I did stick the hub and new front rotor on for a shot- should stop great especially w/ the new Hawk Blue pads all around. Can't wait to mount my wheels w/ no spacers at last- after i put them back together-i'll be searching for some new track wheels soon as my 8" phones are now in another state..

oh and btw- all my old stuff is FS
86 turbo-
-hubs w/ extended studs
-front rotors
-1" "slip on" spacers - or i can reinstall the studs and make them bolt on spacers- will fit over front hub
-front spindles
-front control arms- good ball joints etc.
-rear trailing arms w/ hubs/stub axels-longer studs for 15mm slip on spacer
-15mm h&r slip on spacer
-rear rotors
-inner tie rods

haha your right Alan!
thanks for the compliments- bought all the parts from chilibluepepper for $450 shipped- i didnt think that was a bad deal as i know his stuff is taken care of.
- the cooling mounts are from Lindsey Racing- the blue pipe is actually from Grainger supply- i bought a 20' roll for $127 and used about 6' total- if anyone needs some i still have a bunch in my attic. 3" w/ wire support inside and heat resistant.
Tconn- i love the 3012 rear Koni's- big difference from my QA1's that i had on here to start. My car is very balanced now and easy to adjust.
