I was kinda thinking it was a toss-up between the delrin and soft aluminum...with the aluminum having the advantage that it could be staked to the bearing.
The more i read, the more unhappy i am with the current rebuilding processes. Incorrect bearings, incorrect sleeves, and then there's the fact that the original design didn't last with all the "correct" parts....

This sucker looks beefy enough to support the prop shaft on a U-boat... oh wait...

No, expecting them sometime around the end of the month, or mid next month. I "found" some other things to work on in the meantime, you know how that goes.... Hehe

Looking forward to seeing how this will turn out.
I rebuilt the torque tube on my S2 a couple of years ago and the 6006 ZZ C5 bearings I used are still slightly noisy, if functional. Wondering if these new ones will be totally quiet.

You would need to contact Constantine. He mentioned the other day he has 944/51 testers lined up, but it couldn't hurt to ping him. See the link in post #8, you'll find his posts in that thread and you can PM from there.

That explains why I was waiting for minutes for link from pg 2 to load! Whole minutes I say!
I'm happy with my 6006 zz bearings and delrin bushings. I'm not even entirely sure I put the new bearings in the right spot - no marks in the shaft. I just took the distance from the pilot bearing to the bearing just inside the tranny mainshaft seal, and evenly spaced 4 TT bearings in that distance. But it's much quieter than before. If I ever do another TT rebuild I think I'd try the gerthy bearings soon to be available.
