When rod bearings go bad they make a serious noise? Worn MAIN bearings cause a loss in idle speed oil pressure, mostly harmless though.

Have you checked the oil cooler hoses for leaks or cracks?

Thanks I really appreciate it. I might take you up on this. I just went and looked, 400 dollars for a new one! Christ! I just ordered new o-rings and a washer and will try cleaning the existing one.

This just unscrews from the oil cooler correct? I did the job on my old 84 944 back in the day but I can't remember for the life of me where the OPRV was located on the oil cooler.
