Default High Oil pressure (problem solved. Thanks Rennlist)

Edit.

Found spot where wires came in contact causing a short . Fixed now

Had a recent HG change as well as turbo. when I crank the car the guage is pegged and does not come down as car is warmed at idle for 10-15 minutes. What might cause the high readings. I dont think my pressure is that high. When I cut the car off and then quickly turn the key the guge does not seem to show a reminant of oil pressur. Any thoughts??

Thanks
Steve

The 2 wires might be switched at the oil pressure sender or one is grounded. Did they remove the cooler housing for any reason? If so maybe your OPRV is binding.

Thanks,

Come to think of it, my wires insulation was in rough shape so I cut shrink wrapped and put on fire sleeving. I was pretty sure I kept the wires staight and watched the wire color code, I will switch on the sending unit and see.

Thanks
Again.

Went out and thought i had it. When I looked at the sending unit, one of the wires was pulled out of the terminal. I put ona new terminal but doing the same thing. I switched connections, no difference.I have a faint I and low oil pressure light on, even though the gauge is pegged.

Any more ideas

Thanks
Steve

Are you certain that the wires are good, and there is no short?

Nope, that is what I am afraid of. I guess I will have to pull off and check my solder, or look for short.

Just what I needed after fighting this turbo coolant pipe I had welded to clear the new turbo. I wasted a good day and a half having it welded, in which the mating surfaces of the banjo bolt was bungled . So I spent time driving it to a machine shop to have the surfaces planed. Only to have it still leak. I am going another route. For now i have one bent, but i am not sure even the low profile temp sensor will clear the manifold.

Once I get this oil pressure sorted I will tune the the new turbo with Vitesse PB.

I'll be watching your thread. I have the same issue with my 87 car.

FWIW, you might want to leave the problem in the thread title to make it easier for people to search later.
