The band-aid reduces the wind noise without effecting the road and engine sound. It works just like a foam wind screen on a professional microphone but a ton cheaper. You can still tell when the car gets over 100 with the windows open, outside of that it is very effective.

Good tip. I will try it, thanks. It will be the cheapest mod I've ever done with my car or extension of it.

Nice! I'm planning to get one of those Aiptek or DXG or other $100-ish HD recorders, too. How is the video quality? Is the vibration a problem? If you have any video samples, please post!

The one I have is the same as TonyG's. I like it. It is real easy to install and manipulate. It has three joints with nice ***** to loosen and adjust without tools. The plate on top is just like the plate on a tripod with the screw to attach a camera, so if you can mount your camera on a tripod, you can mount it on this. I'll go take a couple pics of it in the car today.

They are a no-go.

This is what I use, and I use it with a standard Sony mini DV camcorder ($250 range) with a big aftermarket battery (which will easily last the entire weekend).

Here's my mount. We've all used these for years. Zero problems. Just bolt it to your roll bar and go.

The mount clamps to your bar, they just make different sizes so the curved part of the clamp is not grossly bigger or smaller than your bar. You should use the larger mount with your 1 1/2" bar.

Here's some pics. I keep mine mounted all the time and just put the camera on when necessary. I have mine mounted so it doesn't get in the way of my mirror.

Nice pics but you should minimise them a little.

I've just bought this little item and from what I can see it looks great. The film it produces looks very good quality and the price is stupid cheap.
