The HD cameras with internal HD's will shut down due to the vibration even if you turn off the "drop protection".
They are a no-go.
This is what I use, and I use it with a standard Sony mini DV camcorder ($250 range) with a big aftermarket battery (which will easily last the entire weekend).
Here's my mount. We've all used these for years. Zero problems. Just bolt it to your roll bar and go.

This is a really low tech solution. Took a band clamp and drilled a hole through it big enough for the standard side mounting bolt for a camera. Wrapped that with some padding around my Redline rollbar and then clocked the camera on it to be tightly screwed on at the right angle.
Shot the video at the bottom with this setup - need a better video camera or at least an adjustment for the light handling![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Not sure what camera you're using, but if you have it set to auto exposure, the darkness of the interior is influencing the exposure value to an over exposed setting for outside the cabin.
If you have the ability to set exposure manually, have some type of exposure compensation setting, or can set the sensor to set exposure from only the very center of the scene, then it should remedy your video problems.

Yes, you can attach a camera to a harness bar as I read the PCA DE rules. I would think that this is much safer then a suction device. Just make sure you place a safety strap on the camera to keep it from flying around in case the mount breaks.
Belts are another issue. The national PCA has highly recommended that roll bar or cage be used to mount a 5&6 point harness WITH seats that are designed (have cutouts etc) for the harness. So, no more 5/6 point harness with stock seats attaching to a harness bar.

I've been told that of the Handy cam type products that the mini tapes are less likely to get affected by vibration than the ones with Hard Drive. Also the wind noise is an issue, but you also want to hear the engine note. Does the band aid remove this as well Brian?
