it's going onto my parent's plan since my dad's been keeping his lead foot off of the accelerator more than i have lately... (usually the other way around)

that's why i really can't switch over to another company... but i guess $75ish a month really isn't that bad for full coverage...

Hey Nelson,

It sounds like you can't switch since it's under your dad's plan but I switched from Allstate to Hagerty after Kevin's fiasco with trying to get Allstate to give him a fair value on his car after it was totaled. I have full coverage with a $14k agreed upon value with a $0 deductible for $500/year. My mileage limit is 2,500 but I don't drive it much so that's not a problem for me. With Hagerty they also require that you keep the car in a garage (although I'm not sure how they would ever know) and that you have a different vehicle as a daily driver which of course you do.

I just never wanted to have to go through that mess Kevin did with the insurance adjustors if anything ever happened to my car and I've heard nothing but good things about Hagerty.

hmm. thanks for the heads up gabe! i tried to catch you on FB today, but to no avail...

My agent was talking about hagarty, but he said that it would have to be under exotic, and would thus cost much more... i may have him run the numbers on it that way, anyway, and see what he comes up with.

Thanks again, guys!!

wow!!!!!!!!!

Thank you guys sooooo much!

i never new about Hagerty ins. prior to this thread!

now i can insure my classic truck, camaro, and the 951 for very little compared to my current progressive policy.

my progressive ins for a 6 mo policy for my truck and camaro are liability only... but very cheap, ie. $70 each per 6 mo.... but the 951 has been $480 for 6 mo with $500 deductibles, @ Hagerty my 6 mo quote in san francisco is only @225 for 6 mo! $0 deductibles!

Thank you guys so very much!
btw... Chris I owe you a beer! if ever in SF you look me up.. ok?

this is why i love this site!

cheers!
Eric

Huh, If I were you Nelson I would just call Hagerty directly and have them run a quote. I checked everywhere when I was looking to replace my insurance policy and Hagerty was by far the least expensive with the best coverage.

Come on Nelson, after all these months (years even?) you get your 951 and not even a thread with some pics?

He doesn't have any pics yet hahaha.... I have some pictures of it in his garage though, and I have been meaning to post a "whats new in hockey dude's garage" thread.

Fergus is in Ottawa, one of the cheapest cities in Canada to live I think. Toronto/Calgary and Vancouver i think are the worst.
Well not quite the cost of TO, VAN or CGY... but our rents etc. are within 10% so it is not like we live in podunk nowheresville...

Wallace, I would investigate the differential in premium if you were to move your deductble to $1,000 or $1,500. You might find it substantial. I justified it on the basis that if I have less than $1,500 in damage, I am going to pay myself rather than pay for 5X or more in insurance premium increases... Let's face it $1,500 is a belts and wp job...

$480 A MONTH?! You pay almost $6k a year for coverage? Either you have DWI's or the worst driving record in history.

I have mine on coverage for just my garage/trailer/transport right now and I think it's around $280 a year. When I had it on the road I think it was around $780 per 6 months for full coverage (including glass/fire/theft) and a $750 deductible. It's been awhile so I can't remember exactly.

Congrats on the purchase the car looks very clean!
