I do the aero not the "go-go", that I leave up to my mechanic. His take on your '61 was that it is a good turbo and your price was reasonable, but would be too large for this (my) application. How much different is it than a 27/6?

will it build at 3200?

Lindsey rates the S48 as comparable to the K27/8... That turbo will be very close to what you are looking for. Especially if you opt for the Dual-Ball-Bearing center.

Patrick, I am running the vitesse stage 2. I get 15psi by 3200 rpm's, 350rwhp at 21psi, the transient boost response is better, and it's less peaky than the KKK I had... and mine is the old version of the stage 2.

It's a fairly small turbo. The super 61 isn't the best however it is better than the KKK.

What about pauertuning turbos?

Thanks Rogue, finally someone who could at least tell me what was an alternative.

Lorax,
As for the newer technology, other than BB's, what really has changed? Not being a smart ***, just looking for some insight.

If interested, I have a LR Super 75/8, Stage V, dry, gathering dust in my garage. No reasonable offer refused.

I will be running an AFM w/ my 27/6 ( actually clipped 8 comp wheel in 6 housing) , I hope to have running end of next week. Waiting on parts from SFR. I went w/ the 27/6 due to reputation of being very durable turbos. It might not be the quickest, but when I factored in all the variables, it seemed best for me.

BTW I also like the results that 400hp944 had, undoutbly not with an AFM though.

Steve,
Bulletproof, is one word I have heard more than once when describing these. That is if I can find one....

Oh yeah, and when do we get some more updates on your project???
