Default Electronic Boost Control - What is available? New Vitesse EBC Released!

I have been experimenting with the various boost controllers I have collected. Not having access to every controller out there, I'm hoping some of you might be able to answer some of my questions.

I'm trying to find out which EBC has the following features:

- Fail Safe Mode - If the EBC is disconnected, do you run the minimum boost.
- RPM based boost curve- Can you specify how much boost to run at what RPM?
- Boost ramp - Can you specify how fast/slow you want the boost to build/ramp up. How fast do you build boost, without exceeding the preset limit.
- Boost log - Can you log boost and RPM together.
- Max Boost log - Keep track of the highest boost value
- Multiple boost profiles - Can you switch between multiple boost profiles (High/Low) on the fly.
- External triggers - Can you set a external trigger based on a preset boost value. (ex: can you trigger a relay or LED if you go over a preset boost level).
- Ease of Use - How easy is it to set?
- Laptop programmable - Can you program it with a laptop?

- Boost Ramp - RPM based? Can it be specified based on RPM? ex: I want boost to build up quickly to 2700rpm, slow it down between 2700-4000?

If you have a EBC that performs one or many of the above features, let us know the: brand, model and price range. Also share with us the ease of use, and any thing you wish your EBC performed differently or which feature you wish it provided.

TIA

edit: 1) split up the logging features. 2) Added Ease of use & Laptop Programmable. 3) Boost Ramp RPM based

I have the greddy E-01. It logs has two interchangeable settings has a nice display where you can show 4 parameters and works with their e-manage. I haven't played with it for along time it just sets in the glovebox, almost too nice of a unit to hide. It has a nice remote control. It is a little hard to figure out at first. I have rpm afr and boost level wired so I can log them. Bought second hand so I'm not sure what it cost new.

The AVC-r is the one that carries most of those features. I almost bought one, but then I decided to wait in case I find something better later on

*Ease of Use - How easy is it to set?*
Once you mastered the japanglish or either call up apex usa it's pretty solved. As every car is different fine tuning takes its own time especially as this unit offers many features.

no - Laptop programmable - Can you program it with a laptop?
I wish

Integrated SMT-6 EBC WB02 and Data logger would be amazing

whatcha doooin there John

The apexi unit is the oldest and most well known. I've have some expeirence with them on other cars and they do kinda seem to be the benchmark. Especially since you can have all of that for 350 bucks. Its a pretty good buy.

Other controllers like the emanage have the same features but, use larger screens, etc and are nice but, are nearly double the price

internet companies. No over head. Ship directly to your door. My friend bought his for like $360.00.

I think even new from their own website they are what $425.00?

*edit* nevermind looks like their website has them at $470.00. Cheepest im seeing anywhere is 430ish. Oh well my friend bought his a few years back. I guess they have gotten more expensive. Looks like 500 bucks to get one now.

How much does the E-manage run now then? It was like 800 bucks back in the day.

The Apex does seem to have the bulk of what you're after John. They are fiddly and as mentioned the manual is virtually useless. If you search in here, there are a few decent explanations of how to use them.

Great input, thank you.

In regard of the boost ramp, can it be specified based on RPM? ex: I want boost to build up quickly to 2700rpm, slow it down between 2700-4000? (Question added to initial post).

Keep them coming!

I had purchased one for 440 but it was on backorder for 2 months so I gave up. I couldn't find them new much cheaper than that IIRC.

Yes - Boost Ramp - RPM based?

You can also change the start duty so that you get initial spike but tappers off quickly back to set levels to give you extra spurt on kick down. Also opposite, lower the start duty to negate things

It makes a difference. I have been experimenting with this, I like the results.
