Has anyone mouted a bike rack on a 944? Either on the back or roof? If so, what brands?

not sure if any of these brands will fit a 944 but I think all of them have a thing where you enter which car you have...

Yakima is suppose to have a roof kit for a 944. I have a few bits of it for another car and looked into buying the proper items to make it fit my 944.

Hadn't thought about a tow kit before. Will have to look in to that.

Looks like Yakima has one that works. A friend of mine has one, though, they seem a little pricey. $285 for the rack, then $185 per mount.

with the top half of the rear seats removed, I have fit two beach cruisers in the back by only removing the front wheels on both. Or... 3 bmx bikes and only removing the front wheel on one!

I custom fabbed mine for my 924 and it worked fine for my 944 also. Been using it for years for road bikes and full susp mt bikes.
If people are interested I can take some pics but picture this....

Look under your rear bumper, see the two large access holes for the mounting bolts ?
I welded a nut to a piece of flat bar that I can slide in the holes and act as a large wing nuts.
I took a single rail from a bike roof rack and bolted a piece of 1 inch alum square tubing to each
end of the rail to line up with the bumper holes.
Covered the alum tubing with a strip of rubber so it wont scratch the underside of the bumper then
bolted the square tubing to the underside of the bumper via allen bolts thru the tubing to the wing nuts.
This give me a roof rack rail parallel to the rear bumper. Remove the front wheel, mount the bike to the rail and off I go.
Once built, the rack goes on and off quickly.

Mine is a thule. Functionality is pretty good, but I found that the foot pads mark the black paint no matter how careful you are. If I were going to mount it again, I would cut out some of the 3m clear bra material to cover the area of the roof where the rack sits.

Congrats to your fellow countryman for coming over and taking the title this year.

I had the Thule system on my old NA. It was strong enough for three downhill bikes on top. Everyone used to laugh about how the bikes were worth more than the car.......

Sorry for the ****ty scan:
