Default A better guage display

Is there a way to use a double din monitor as a data display? OR

What I would like to do is use my JVC radio as a display for all of my engines info. EGT, AFR, Boost etc... So has anyone tried to do this or is it possible?

I am working on doing exactly that. I am trying to set up a 7" touch screen monitor and a carputer running Microsoft XP, and will real time monitor, most likely using my Zeitronics. I am considering the Vitesse Motronic Monitor, but since I already have the Zeitronic installed in my car, I thought I would start with that.

It shouldn't be a problem. I will be running a separate amp to drive the existing speakers and an external volume control for audio. It will be running a broadband wireless card and have GPS, iTunes and Sirius radio interfaces. The biggest compromise appears to audio quality, which I don't care about anyway.

Regards,

zeitronics would be sweet but what about the plx system. It seems to me that they have done alot of the work allready.

Too complicated. It would just be nice to hit an aux button on the radio and have a nice looking display of guages with all of the cars data on it.

Then hit dvd, cd or ipod and go back to that. Just a very clean install.

It seems to me that if you had a small system running all of the data then just send it to a monitor would be the way to set it up. Then it would be even better if you could customize the display screen. (plx does just that)

Imagine having a normal double din dvd/nav radio in your 951 then just select a mode and have something like the DashDaq pop up.
Sweet!!!!!!!!!

Now that is what I am talking about Willis!

Unless you do something heavily custom, then using a small PC and running Motronic Monitor or Zeitronix or whatever else is the only way. DashDaq and most of the other options are ODB2 and thus wont work. PLX only uses its little display module, but there is the PLX iMFD Datalogger which has a bigger screen.

Ok! so what if you were to take one that was compatible without obdII and open it up and wire in an output from it screen to and aux. then just run it to the radio input. Could that be done??

You would need something that originally came with an S-Video output, otherwise it wouldnt work.
