Got a solution to the issue of possible water getting in.

I can fit a 45 degree pipe into the fender hole facing to the rear of the car so no rain or water or puddles can get sucked into the intake.

Nice choice on the wheels. It looks great. I'm getting ready to upgrade to a set of 18's also. Trying to get the right look and still unsure of exactly what that look is.

I'm in the mountains of western North Carolina right now. When the real estate market took a dive, I came up here and opened two car lots. A little slow, but doing OK. Hoping to sell out and move back to O-town this year, as I miss it too much. I have dozens of friends in the REO/foreclosure game and am considering making a real estate investment/rehab come back in late 2009.

I think Elliot bought Ehall's black 951. I'm lovin mine and it's better than ever. I have been driving it rather than the Z06 because the turbo loves this cold weather so much. Doubt I'll sell it any time soon. Its kinda like a child to me.

Superloaf: The condition your talking about is called hydrostatic lock or hyrdo-locking. While water technically does compress it does not compress easily and can cause all sorts of bad stuff if it displaces enough of the combustion chamber. It has to be a pretty large percentage, however.

Hey!

That's right, I forgot you are in NC. And i can completely agree with the cold air and our car being in D.C. I have been out in 20-30 degree days and it is sick!! lol

The wife and I are up here as we were both in real estate/mortgage/finance and that was going no where last year in FL as you are aware.

I too am looking at REO right now and wondering how motivated banks are to do some major short sales. I was not even able to do my bread and butter of pre FC as the owners were all upside down and banks were not will to do much a year or so ago. Of course, due to last few months I would think they are more motivated now.

We need to meet up some weekend half way; maybe Richmond, VA or something?

Update:

After about 2 weeks of rain, I finally got out to test my latest set up.

I wanted to keep the MAF housing as the opening since it is 3.5" vs. 3" pipe going into the fender hole.

So I got it set up so the MAF opening is right at the fender hole so it is getting all cold ambient air and no issue of water coming in, etc.

Went out and tested yesterday......WOW!!!

Pulls like a freight train and can really hear the air sucking through the big 3.5" opening.

60+ mph in 2nd breaks my 18x10 loose and that is with my big laggy turbo and if I had more room/less traffic around, 3rd would have broken loose also; running 18psi.

Also, when popping the hood to check, the IC pipe going into the intake was COLD to the touch. Not cool.....COLD!!!

Also, 250rpm sooner with a 4th gear spool up test compared to standard cone filter headlight set up.

Very cool! no pun intended. lol

I used a 45 facing towards the rear of the car to stem some possibilities of water pickup into the intake.

When are you seeing 1 bar with that 75? I would guess in the high 3's maybe even 4000rpm?

Yes, about 3,800. From 0-10 psi it is slow to build but from 10-20psi it is almost instant.

I can tell at 18psi the 75 is not even breaking a sweat.

With the super cool temps and some toulene I was playing at 20-21psi and just those 2-3 psi more made a major difference; from freight train to rocket.

With good tuning, cold air charge and the 75 not making so much heat at 20psi I think I can run 20 on pump as several in here have done so with smaller turbos for years with no issues.

But with proper octane and tuning the 75 is a 25psi turbo all day long.
