[QUOTE=Chris White;6088213][QUOTE=Ski;6086485]Chris, the Wossner pistons, got any pics of those? You said Alusil coating so is it like for like or is it an iron based coating?

The coating is designed for Alusil and the BWM equivalent, last time I met with Mr. Wossner he showed me a nice certificate form BWM approving of the use of the coating for BWM products.
Here is a picture of 10:1 NA piston I used in a DE instructors engine (good friend of mine). Interesting project – a low budget exercise, rebuild a stock engine for his DE instructing car. No engine mods other than higher compression pistons, not even a chip. He runs 93 octane street gas (except the time he added a gallon or two of diesel before he figured out what was in his gas can!). This car gets a LOT of track time, at least 30 days a year and he never misses a session. He picked up quite a bit of speed and had to rethink his shift and brake points!
On that note Chris, what in your opinion, is the product of going higher c/r. I have a friend who seems to believe that by doing this, he won't get any more power?

As always - it depends on what you want to do with it. If you are going to run race gas / ethanol then higher compression ratio is a positive. For street gas there is not a clear answer, 8:1 offers the possibility to run a lot of boost but higher ratios perform better off boost and spool quicker.

So I guess I would say that if you use the same fuel and have maxed out the tuning for each set up you will not see more HP out of a higher compression ratio – it will have to run lower max boost than the lower compression ratio engine.

Thanks Chris. So around 2k for 8, or maybe a bit less? At 2k, thats 1k more than JE, but it would then not required that you:

1) Take a chance on Swain PC-9 in an alusil bore (people say it works)
2) Nikasil coat a block (I think around 1800 for me)
3) Wet sleeve liners from someone (2500 or more I understand)

I may be interested in a set of those how much??

I am picking up the wasted TC pistons tomorrow. I got in the mail a set of stock turbo pistons I bought on ebay.

i have sent Tom a few emails and left a voice message at the shop

I know they had an aweful ice storm so I expect a slow reply.

I really hope this gets solved in an amicable way. I can't imagine your dissapointment with the whole situation.

Thanks Buddy
no doubt I am trying

The best thing that can happen is Tom having a call with my machine shop. somehow someway a solution has to be produced
it's not only the $1000 worth of pistons
its the wasted block that just came out of the shop getting prepped
it's the 8 hours removing the engine and 4 hours dissassembling after going through the assembly work and mounting just a month ago.....

time and money

I know a couple of my friends that sent me to Tom that have his pistons. In fact Jason at Paragon is a friend of mine and that's how it all got started. I am surprised Tom isnt calling me back or returning my emails. I am being very nice in all my messages.

I know he had a hell of a winter storm go through his back yard. All I am looking for right now is a return phone call

Thanks for your kind note

Have you figured out yet what the pistons were made of and what the shop clearanced them at?
