Some basics –
There are two stock cranks for the 944 series – the 2.5 has a 78.9mm stroke and the 3.0 has a 88mm stroke. You can make 2.7 engine by using the 88mm crank in a 100mm bore – or a 2.8 with the 78.9mm crank with a 104mm bore. In truth you can make up just about anything you want now that custom pistons are available with Alusil coatings.
The Darton MID sleeves have a minimum bore of 101.6mm (wet sleeves) you can get dry sleeves in any diameter – you could even sleeve it down to 90mm if you wanted too! Make sure you have a shop that is familiar with sleeving 944s – the block is pretty fussy about using the right technique and tooling – if you use the same method that most shops use on ‘regular’ blocks your sleeve will recess into the block after a number of heat cycles and the head gasket will fail.
“port out” the 16v head and you will not improve it – you will kill the velocity and kiss midrange torque good bye. In fact in a good high end head the first step is to weld more material back into the intake ports….

Well so far it appears as if my oil leak has been fixed. Haven't driven the car yet, but my main worry was the oil pan gasket. Looks like the yamabond did it's job, thanks Aaron!
