Default Looking for a winter project

I am looking for a small, relatively simple (because I am still learning) winter project.

Here is the kicker, I have maybe $1,000 or so to spend over the winter on the car on parts (the rest is going into the TR6 project).

In the past year I have done the following:
  • Venturi delete, vac lines, ISV valve
  • Full tune up
  • Belts and rollers (Mechanic did it for me)
  • Radiator and hoses
  • Rennbay headlight harness and Hella H4s
  • New head unit, speakers and subwoofer
  • new dash and LED lighting
  • New rear shocks
  • new 3" exhaust

Additional note, the cars chips were programmed by Andial in the mid-90s (+32 rwhp)

Ideas for something educational would be very much appreciated.

What do you want mod wise? I'd say time for a maf or continue on the R&R route with speed and reference sensors and fuel lines with associated fuel parts.

Thanks Bigdeano - added a note about the existing chip mods from a PO. MAF is an idea.

Not sure about my modification direction, might be cosmetic (968 wing), performance enhancements or R&R (although the car is in decent shape). That's why I am asking for ideas.

I would consider installing an engine wire harness from Lindsey. Directions are good, cost is within your budget but it takes some time to do it correctly so it is a good winter project. The wiring around the headers and intake just gets brittle after 20+ years.

Brian, I like that idea. Are you refering to the injector harness, or the main harness? I do have an IceShark kit to go in, but am debating as I am having no issues with charge at this point - almost 14v at the battery.

Have been thinking of 911s. Prices are attractive, but I would have to sell the 951 and the TR6 to do it. And I love my 951 too much... I see a 964 (or even a 993) in the future though. I just want to be able to keep my 951.

Putting in the Ice shark kit is a good idea, the main battery cables should be starting to crack in places. There is no fuse to save the day if they short to ground.

The Lindsey harness has three parts, it replaces most of the wiring around the intake.

Thanks Brian. I think it will be an electrical projects winter

Cory (or anyone else for that matter) I am curious as to why I would install a Tial wastegate if my stock one is performing fine?

A tial is one of the best upgrades you can do IMHO
