Do you have to change the oil before you store it for 4 months? I only have 1200 miles since my last oil change. I figure i will change the oil when i bring it out in the spring. Also i didn't disconnect the battery yet, will it be drained if it's connected through the winter?

Yes to both. You should pull the battery and put it on a trickle charger or charge it every couple of weeks. The used oil has different chemicals that can do damage over time. Fresh oils is the way to store it. At least that was the word when I stored boats for the season.

Good topic gents...
Adding to Brian's comments about older oil having acidic chemicals, oil absorbs moisture and if old oil is left in the motor, moisture will evaporate out of the oil and condense on the engine internals causing corrosion. I am of the mindset of why take a risk?

Well i finally got the battery out (i had to get a ratchet extension for the nut at the bottom of the battery tray) Oil has been changed, filled up tank with gas -- Car cover is on.
Battery is charging as we speak with a Motomaster Nautilus trickle charge.

when you say filled the tank with gas, did you put a fuel stabalizer in it?
