She's officially asleep for the winter!
Stored my 951 today.
- Inflated the tires to 3 bar (approx between 40 and 45 psi)
- Filled up the tank with gas
- Added fuel stabilizer
- Put a tarp under the car
- Put the car in its rented garage space
- Removed the battery
- Removed the DME relay (This way if thieves try to hook up the car to a battery, it still won't start)
- Left the car in first gear and off the handbrake
- Put a car cover on
- Close and lock the garage

Well, the storage facility that I use have put me in a newly-built section. The garage spaces are heated but...the garage doors are only 72 inches wide. Our cars are 68.31 inches wide. The thieves will have to work hard to back it out of the space...less than 2 inch clearance on each side!

I like my Saab warm in the morning (for my butt's sake)...so it sleeps inside during the winter. We have a two-car garage, but my wife somehow insists that her car also be warm in the morning. Women! Go figure...!

When storing my 996, I also do the following:
-wash/wax car thoroughly
-change oil
-place a few boxes of Arm and Hammer baking soda in the interior to prevent moisture

^ I like the ar and hammer trick... Never thought of that. I have to find a way of getting my car from Tampa to MN since my clutch just went out. Then put it up on blocks till the spring. Who's pulling a few parts off their cars to work on over the winter? Me: control arms, cluster.

I've changed the oil just before storing and I've also changed it just after taking her out. Can't see a difference. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this...
Arm and Hammer is a great idea. However, this year it's stored in a heated garage, so it may not be as important.
