Yeah, i thought $2500 for mine was a great deal. I'm in for around 19,000 in parts alone right now. (funny how I have LESS of them?) hours worked on it are too many to calculate.

When we pick up 944's that haven't run for awhile, we fill the crankcase and in each cylinder with transmission fluid and let it soak for a few days. This will be sure to loosen all moving parts and de-sludge anything. Like everyone says, check all other things too. But, before you crank her, soak her. (Then drain and fill with oil, duh) Even before you do a compression check or leakdown, do this first.

Yes - and it makes it hard to surf the board at work. People will get the wrong ideas.
