THANKS. I called these guys and they said my wheel size was not a Stage three. Here is what I think. my wheel is the older style and just a hair smaller at:

Minor: 56.03mm = 2.205in
Major: 61.4mm = 2.417in

comes out to like an .83 trim

stock stage 3 turbonetics wheel numbers(different sources give slightly different numbers):
minor: 2.227/2.229 in
Major: 2.555/2.559 in

Bell housing showing excellent condition used fork (new plating), I just pressed in new needle bearings and new fork shaft(Ian's). Bearings fit fine even with plating. new inspection plug. and also got a newly rebuilt 951/S2 starter for 90$. just test fitting parts here.

a few sites sell whole clutch rebuild kits which include tube, PP bolts, and fly wheel bolts.

That wheel should work in that housing considering the small side is only .020 smaller and the big side is .100 or so which divided in half is ~ .050

You should ask them if you could send it back if there is an interference (doubt it).

I just finished rebuilding a turbo that is well over that amount of clearance and it is touted as a quick spool unit form a vendor.

As long as it doesn't interfere in the trim area it will be fine. People would be surprised at how much slack there is in turbos and turbine fitment

Turbo vendors won't agree with that b/c they want to sell a new unit.

20% restocking fee. still might be worth it to test fit.

What size injectors are you guys running in 2.5, 2.7 and 3.0's for the power you make??

I am shooting for about 400 crank hp or a little over. calculations give me a crazy 750-850cc's. i am considering the Siemens low imped 55# or 72#(~65$ EACH). Also RC eng. i have used their ij's(~80$ ) before with no problems. Any thoughts??

83# ers IMO are good for what you are looking for with proper management.

When it comes to injectors though, I personally recommend larger with proper management for future upgrades/fuel choices.

Of course on my car I do it a little different, but have tuned a few cars on 1600's with add on managements (not motronic cars)

I haven't read everything you are doing though, just talking here

Can you remind me why you're going with an S2 flyweel and bellhousing again? I did it because I need to use a 951 flywheel to trigger the 8v DME.

Just read your first page and I would look at a larger downpipe for sure.

S2 flywheel has 60-2 teeth, nice for 15 teeth per 90 degrees, works with Haltech, AND centerforce S2 PP cost several hundred less than turbo PP.

Using stock 951 downpipe beacuse: it fits well, has great flanges, is double wall insulated, has lower mounting point, and I have two of them. I considered 3 inch , but the turbo outlet is 2.5, and I feel the flame/heat cone can expand just a well 12 inches later into a 3 in exhaust pipe. Plus, no more cash spent on manufacturing a 3 inch down pipe, or buying Lindsey's one. Since I am not looking for every bit of power, I can stay at 2.5.

will look into 83#, THANKS

I cut the inside out of a standard down pipe cutt the last 1.5 neck down off and then just added 1.5" of 3" to the end and a V clamp
it did take me all after noon but I didn't have the right tool to to hack it out but i think Its like a 2.8"

Since I can't really find the correct 4 bolt housing for my old school turbo, I will use one downpipe and cut out the inner weld of the upper flange, remove it, and weld the pipe to the 5 bolt flange. I have some cored stainless wire for my welder so it should come out looking good.

just waiting to hear about a new job before tearing anything apart.

Man, i love this 944turbo site...always like 40 people online....even Sunday morning!!

Anyway, update:

Received TT O/H bearing set...real nice machining of the aluminum sleeves, fit the bearings perfectly. Bearings very nice NSK.

Found on ebay(3 left). search for "Porsche 944/951/968/928 Torque Tube O/H Kit"

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...4506.m20.l1116

Pic is seller's , so I don;t take credit. Came with some basic instructions. I still don;t know exactly how to do the replacement, but will figure it out. Also, sellr has a seperate website where you can look at more pics.

Mining in remote areas, oil rig work, jobs like that typically do time on/time off type stuff. But the two weeks or month that youre on, youre working every day for 16 hours sometimes.

yeh you take the good with the bad some days 2 hrs work and some 18 it can also be a bit a head case when it goes wrong and they keep telling you it's costing 600 dollars per minute when you've stopped the rig and thats befor you break anything
