Nice one Patrick.
Your car looks set up very well - suspension wise.
I get alot of oversteer with my vitesse stg 3 and i also run Toyo R888s. I have a tired M030 suspension though.
Glad you posted that vid, although i also believe that its a matter of driver skills too. :-)

Race Car
Very nice Patrick.
If it were only dry.
I think I like the s2 gearing, I could see the difference on the start. However it did look like it was maxxed out in 4th pretty easy on the walled straight.
I just can't wait to do this kind of racing. There is a new track opening w/i 2 hrs

Thanks for the compliments guys.
I'd like to do more of that starting format, but I'm not sure if we'll see that again? I'll ask. The day was actually the BMW club vs us, but as they did pair us based on time it looked like an all Porsche affair. I'm also very impressed how quick the bog standard 997 S is. Technology huh?
The track wasn't so much wet as it was greasy in certain sections. You just had to wait before you could boot it. The suspension can cope and has lots of adjustment available.
I'm still not 100% on my brakes. To be fair they didn't fade so much, more that the pedal was soft almost from the get go. I've had this problem in the past at the track though. Both will have to cope with more power/tq in the near future so I hope they will be ok.
The Vitesse stuff all works well even though it's not the most suited for this size engine. On the track it's pretty much fine. The turbo hits 1 bar at approx 3700 and comes on with a pretty decent shove.
Oh, and Sid, I'm actually hitting 5th down that short straight and back into 4th so the S2 cwp does make the setup pretty short. I really like it actually.
As for just starting our season, well actually we're just finishing. It's too hot down here and really hard on the cars.

Went to the track today. Overcast, had been raining, track slippery as you can clearly see, but had some fun anyway. They gave us the option of lining up on the grid in pairs and dragging off down the straight to do 4 hot laps. The guy I'm against was there for the 1st time today and a pretty heavy car so he went well. The 4wd was helping him a lot. I had to back off a few times for fear of giving him a love tap. Had no turn in, slipping rears, and my pedal was soft very soon after starting the 1st session...but apart from that the car went great. lol
Tried some E85 (approx 25%) and we fattened up the afrs up top. Was running 1.3 - 1.4 bar. Having more power today wouldn't have been any help anyway. Thanks Sid for his assistance re the fueling.
The engine is totally stock 2.5L with the Vitesse stage 5 kit which was meant for my 3L. With the S2 cwp, it creates enough of a shortened final drive to be able to get away with the too big turbo, especially on the track.
Oh, sorry about the flappy thing getting in the way. It's off the handle of the camera. I can't believe how bad the resolution is once downloaded onto Youtube too??

Thanks E. Actually I'd like to get one of those slimmer mirrors for just this sort of thing. I'll have to check into that.

Patrick, very nice video thank you for sharing (keep them coming). It was fun watching from the driver seat, you were having fun. Interesting how the TT driver started to "drive his mirror" and you could see him getting sloppy in a few places and missing the line. I bet he was thinking "what the hell a 944 is doing on my bumper?" .
Your car is setup nicely, the suspension is working for you. The shorter R&P accelerates you quickly, but it requires lots of shifting. As it appears, you were enjoying this aspect of it...
Glad to see you back on the track. There is no alternative to "seat time". Enjoy!

Thanks guys. Actually that is pretty much what he said back in the pits John. He said he couldn't get rid of me (in a nice way). To be fair to him, it was his first time on this track so he went very well considering this.
Patrick, I hope to do some more video, but that was about our last trackday this year. It gets too hot down here. Hopefully I'll have your splitter on my car next season to help me even more. Hope you recover soon too.
