I was (am?) a punk with no common sense on the road, and the older I get, the more I have come to realize it.
So there.

I don't remember the first time i saw my current girlfriend of 4 years
I remember the first time I ever saw my car I didn't even know what the number plate "NINE51" meant.
I had saved up 3 tax returns and was in the market for an NA car to turbo myself .A guy like my godfather had found this car in the paper and pretty much gave me the balance required another 10k i paid 18 for it witch was about 5 months wages .
the day after i got it it spat a cam belt as i couldn't afford the car let alone the repair it took me six months to do my self and of coarse head work cam exhaust.
My older friend had moved away to Tasmania I really re great never going to see him.
a couple of months later I got a call from my best mate saying this guy his dad died. I downed tools walked out of work took that thing out to the hills and cained the **** out of it .
I can't imagine ever parting with it

I was 21 when i got my own 951. I worked part time while studying in college, then stayed all summer and winter holidays working full time to earn enough money to get my 951.
No one in my family helped me, i saved up for 3 years and found a good 951 here and bought it.
Gave my family and my friends a shock, since i kept saying that i wanted a 951, and i will work hard to get one without anyones help.
And i did just that...
And it felt, and still feels, pretty dang good!

first 944 @ 34 951 at ~ 36.
picked up the 44 when at an auction and thought it would be good for an engine transplant.
then after s/c it found a cheap 951 still no transplants and I still love these little things and I have had some cars.
The whole "Paid for it myself" thing is really funny to me as a parent paying for college, rent, and other items for a kid that is "paying" for their own car
No offense intended for the younger ones here you have some good taste and obviously work hard , just strikes me as funny is all.

I guess everyone has different priorities in life and the really do change over time, right now my goal was the 951 for a neat, relatively fuel efficient car, (better that the 77 any way). And yes I do still live at home, but I do work 40hrs a week and go to high school. (3-8 after school and 7-8 on weekends) so I think I have worked hard to get the car. I'm not just a spoiled punk who was given this car by daddy Warbucks.
never mind me, I'm tired...

I got my first 951, NEW, an 1986 Zerrmat beauty at 32 yo. That was 22 years ago last week! Sold it after I got my Escort Turbo Cup car in '93. Guess I really am an old fart!

I have always wanted a 951 since I grew up riding in my dads 1987 944S.He had always wanted a 951. When my brother crashed my dads 944S, I started looking to at how to repair it. I found Rennlist as a solution. I began to get very interested in the 944's and I learned a lot. I just waited for the perfect time to buy a 951. When I finally bought a 951, I knew it would take money to keep it running. It does take some money to keep the wheels turning on my 951, but It all pays off when I drive it. I love driving my 951!!! ENOUGH SAID!!!

I am suprised at how young some of the people were at time of purchase. Porsche should be happy that so many people buy their cars as a first major purchase.
I was 49. I must say that having 30 years of experience fooling around with old sports cars was a great help. I also should mention I sold a 911T (1972) to buy this car. Never regretted it.

Got my first 951 when I was 20. It was funny, in a relatively small town, myself and 2 good friends all had 951's (1996). Sold it and bought another when I was 30. Sold it and moved to another part of the rennlist forums

I'm 18 and was barely able to get my n/a last year and keep it up with insurance/gas/what have you. Not much to thank my mother for aside from a roof over my head and food.
Parents buying their kids cars today seem so commonplace it's scary. I wish my mother thought it was an expected thing like some of your parents did...
(btw still no 951.. yet?)
