yeah I was a teenager, and when I got it I spent a year rebuilding the engine and stripping the entire car down and stitch welding all the seams. I guess thats normal teen behavior tho haha.

The question is not only did you buy it with money from your own pocket, its also did you pay for all of the related costs after initial purchase, such as insurance, which is pretty high for a male teen with a porsche.

==^ fwiw insurance on my 951 is cheaper then any of my previous cars (89 Conquest TSI, 84\85 944, 92 Honda Accord, etc) but if I add collison it is incredibly expensive

I see a trend! I was 22 when I bought my first. I had the Japanese version of it before that. The good old RX-7 turbo II. Only had to replace that 13b rotary 3 times...(thank god I bought that service contract the salesman was so eager to sell me!) Never had a major problem with my first 951, just a steady stream of little things.
I think it says something about these cars and that the poll specifically refers to your "first" 951

Parents bought me my '91 S2 a couple months before 17. I worked that summer and bought wheels and tires, plus other various things for it. The agreement was I keep it running and take care of it. No one else in my household knows anything about Porsches, so it's a "you're on your own" thing for me.
I wrecked that S2 earlier this year, and got a good settlement from insurance on it. Insurance bought my 951, about a month before 18. I have paid to get the S2 running again and am fixing it up. I also take care of the turbo, and pay for things on it. It's not easy being 18 and having two. I buy gas, food, and car parts.
And please no comments about "your parents bought your car? haha!". My told me she'd much rather buy me a car and get into that, then have me out n the streets in my town doing other bad things. Not to mention, at the age I've started at with Porsches, I can still do something with my life involving then, or cars in general. It will pay off one day.
Not to mention, why does every teeanger have to own a civic? I'm sorry, but I'm not for that crowd. Not every teenager is into rice burners...

Got the 924S when I was 18, (traded my Nissan for it) and bought the turbo when I was 24. the only part the parents had was Dad gave me permission to sell the nissan for it. The turbo, I've paid for EVERYTHING. Gas, in$urance, parts, shop time in the rare occasion it goes to the shop, etc. the 924, parents paid insurance, and a repair bill if it was more than I could have afforded.

I was 16 when I got my first turbo. My grandfather died and left me some assets, half went to college savings and the other half bought a 1988 944TS.

Yes I did pay for the car and the initial cost. I resent the fact that a teenager has the stereotype of a punk who has no common sence in him. I do not race the car on the streets and I work very hard to maintain and improve my car.
