I have done plenty of testing and found out that the factory OEM radiator caps have a defect. There spring they are using is too strong therfore causing you to create leaks and or in worst case issues a blown head gasket!!!!! So if you by a BERU cap test it for proper loads before install. i will state it's just the beru caps the stanta one are fine. But if you got a bad one after changing cooling fuild and notice loss of fuild but still running ok that is the problem( could be other things this is just one type of issues mind you). If you test it, it will hold in excess of 40 lbs with not bleed off. If yours does it then you got one of the bad ones the window of bad ones i noticed so far are from feb of this year to now. Getting ready to get another one for the dealer to se if there is still a problem....... And cheaper Beru caps are even worst for non dealer parts places. so if you like "factory " parts beware!!!

well mpd47 are completely sound in my car other then the ruptered oil cooler line i got rite now ....lol. Just thought i give everyone a heads up and what im talking about i have tested and proven.

i have the opposite problem. my new caps spring isnt strong enough and results in a leak.

I don't understand why anyone would start a thread expecting us to treat information about a 22 year stock old radiator anything close to news.

Sh%t , i knew it wasn't the detonation that was causing the blown head gaskets. Thousands of users and a lot of vendors claim that it's detonation but now you have confirmed that is the radiator cap. Thanks

Ok lart with these caps they cause the car to contiuously build prEssure every start up and shut off ...etc. till the point where something goes ...like aiding in a radiator hose burst, added pressure on aging headgasket , heatercore , the cooling system of these cars was not meant to hold over 21 psi and all the caps i test (new) hold past 60 psi (for days on end) so do the numbers EVENTUALLY it will cause something to prematurely break. I determind to get a OEM cap that works cause i dont use cheap aftermarket **** on my cars but for now im running with a stant cap...... but i will tell you this you run one of these caps within a 2 month period you will have coolinG issues SOMEWHERE.
Im just trying too (like i said before ) give people a heads up on the cap thing. Mainly bought from a BAPGEON autoparts store in va and a few from the dealer in va beach....but if your not **** about OEM parts on your car run with a stant and be in a safe spot.

Are you serious about the coolant pressure should be even comparable to combustion chamber pressure?

In Swedish I would comment this with "En **** i Mississippi."
