Yes sportsbikes have come a long way, cars too one could argue but today's liter jap bikes are essentially Moto GP bikes from a few years ago. Modern sports cars are built with the fool proof gadgetry that prevents massive law suits but the same hasn't happened in the bike world, bikes are as raw (and dangerous) as ever. Take a look at Honda's latest CBR1000RR, fully dressed this thing weighs less than 200kgs and pumps nearly 180hp, it's insane. On the track in capable hands, it must be the most fun you can have with your clothes on. On the street though? A greyhound in a studio apartment. Oh, and it costs like 10K$ new.

As for handling and braking, these bikes are very capable but require advanced riding skills. This is the biggest difference between cars and bikes: driving a car fast on a closed circuit is a matter of skill, but getting decently fast is within reach of most enthusiasts, where as riding a bike fast takes comparatively more practice.

Finally, going fast around corners on a bike is almost impossible on less than ideal tarmac, a few rough edges are enough to throw a bike off its pace where a car on the same surface would stay put.

For those who haven't yet indulged in two-wheel sport motoring, keep in mind it's never too late to do so!

A couple of car/bike comparos:

Chris

I don't have it yet, I'm looking for an adjustable wet kit.
Kinda cool I can hide the bottle inside the tail section.
Bike is not extended, just lowered so it still looks kinda stock.
