Simulated Fun Run w/ Some Crotch Rockets Tonight..
So tonight I was driving over to this girls place in Dallas..We'll call her "**** chung", like that song... lol
So I start up 75N from 635E and get passed by a group of bikes going about 80-90. I am intrigued by this, of course. So I play.
We begin to accelerate rapidly and decelerate when simulated traffic pockets occur. Up to 1XX, down to 8X, a few times. Each time we hit 1XX, the guys turn around to see if I'm still there. I am.
I was a bit scared doing so as my steering wheel is a bit loose (just needs some loctite and a good torque), and with the thought of that 928 in CA clearly in my mind. So when they got a bit too close (weaving VERY close to other cars) I decided I had made my stand.
And then got to **** chungs place and told her all about it. Instant simulated panty dropper.
It's a good feeling to know that a simulated 22yo car can keep up, if not accelerate faster, than brand new sport bikes.

Sounds like the bikers were just having a good time. They weren't trying to race you.
As much as I like our 951s, they won't hold a candle to a modern sportbike unless major mods are involved. FWIW, my stock bike typically runs a 10 second 1/4mi at over 130mph.

Agreed on bikes superiority on paper. However I have found in other simulated occasions that they can't push as hard in corners at times and a 10 sec bike doesn't always leave a well driven 951 in the weeds...

Oh they were definitely superior, no doubt about that. My point is that I kept up to the point where they were turning around and double and triple taking, like WTF?!??! How is that guy still there?

Take it from me. Its friday so you got some of the bike night crew leaving sonic over off of northwest hwy. I have hung with AND "beaten" several rockets that were new or newer 600cc.
They couldn't ride for crap and weren't even taking their bikes to 5 or 6 tenths even though they thought they were. Literally I was nose to nose with a new honda 600 from 30-120ish. The couple of bikes that happened to be behind him(we were all friends having a drive/ride together) were laughing.
He wasn't a new rider he just didn't know how to push the bike. My sis ex bf and his brother preceded to race me right after that and he walked me so hard it was rediculous and he lifted at 135mph. From 30-130 he had already put a few busses on me.
It was a brand new 05' 636. The very same bike as his bro's.
I'm glad you had fun thats what its all about. Thursday night is bike night out there at sonic on northwest and 635 but, trust me they were just playing with you.
btw somewhere I have video of me running a r6. He put about 20-25 car lengths on me running from 30-140ish. I only offer that because somewhere people actually consider my car to be quite quick, and maybe for a 20 year old 944 it is. Compared to a new 600cc bike though it couldn't be anymore slower.

I'm glad you had fun but most newer 600+cc bikes will beat you up unless, you are light and 300+ Rwhp
After looking at Johns post a quick search shows 636's running 10's at 130+ 1/4 mile times. Some 9's at 150mph with a small nitrous shot.

A well driven track-setup 951 has more cornering power than a bike, and stops better unless the rider is an expert, but power....forget it.
Modern"box stock" liter sport bikes have 160+ horsepower and weigh under 450 pounds wet. They accelerate like rockets between 100~175 mph, and turn 1/4 mile times in the low 9's @150mph.
Even on 600's, they were just playing with you.

I love passing by the older 600cc sport bikes on the highway, even some of the older 900cc bikes start to lose ground at higher speeds. However the 2006 and newer bikes are soooo much faster so I'm sure it would be a different story with those. All my friends have slightly older sport bikes in the 1996-2002 years. There faster of the line but I can catch up and eventually drive past them....but not until after 100-130mph....a simulated 130 mph of course. My friends 1996 900cc Yamaha kill me in the 1/4 but he has nitrous on it also but in a 2 mile race however I would win.

I have already been a bit fretful of guys on bikes weaving and try to stay well back - too many of them think that they are bulletproof. They are kind of like cyclists - way too unpredictable. That being said it is nice to know that in a simultated environment that the 951 stays right there with them.
Now as I am heading out for the weekend at a resort, will this simulated panty dropper work with my wife?

I see many posts from people claiming to run with and beat bikes outright. Claiming the rider was a pro or well versed and they knew he knew what he was doing ect, bottem line? I have alot of personal expeirence with very very high horsepower cars and bikes.
It takes a legitimate 500ish rwhp and 3,00lbs to really pull out on a stock new 600cc rocket. Guys are pulling them with alot less but, again they are beating the RIDER not the bike. A bone stock c6z will trap 127-128mph all day long and put down 440-450rwhp and weighs close to the above for refference.
Alot of times you'll fine people beat cars or bikes or whatever and its easy to think they actually beat the car/bike. I've seen posts on this board where people claim to walk 600rwhp single turbo supras from rolls upwards of 150mph with 400/450 rwhp.
Give me a break. Problem is few people have alot of personal first hand expeirence with this kind of thing. So they catch a poor driver or rider or someone just really playing with them and they win. Then they think "ahhh I can beat that bike" ect.
sorry didn't mean to. Its easy to get confused. Hell like I said i've personally pulled a couple of 600cc bikes up to 170mph in my 951. Catching them on the big end, and even down low.
But, as you can clearly see i've also had my *** handed to me by the very same bike I just beat with a different rider. It really helps put things into perspective.
