how much do the 6 speeds usually go for? Do they all have limited slip or just some?

You should be worried about your MAF and your Turbo first.

The title sounds like your selling one.

Yeah,

The title does say I have one for sale. I'm attempting to purchase one for my car. My five speed box is TRASHED. My trans builder told me that he could not build a 951 box as strong as a stock 968 box.

Most 968 boxes did not have LSD's. I'll just add one.

I paid $3,500 for my 6-speed LSD and another $300 for the shift linkage separately. Getting the speedometer to work was a real pain.

Apparently, in the early 6-speeds they had an issue that was corrected in the later models. When purchasing you need to ensure you have a later model. I had mine installed two years ago and have forgotten what the issue was at this point.

It was pinion preload and it's something that can easily be adjusted on "early" boxes.

they changed the LSD from a clutch to a torsen early on so most 968 LSDs are torsens which i am not sure are as good on the track as a clutch LSD.

In one of the 968 books I was reading, they cited the torshen system as being an improvement over the 951 clutch system. I will see if I can find it and share it with the group.

I thought a Turbo S box was as strong as you could get OEM wise.

im trying to figure that out too. i was on guards site and they basically said a track car should have a true LSD. Then i went to quaifes site and they said their TBD is on a lot of SCCA race cars.

A quaife TBD is about 1300. Not sure what the GT TBD is, but from what i read the GT LSD is a lot more $$.

I think the newer LSDs work braking and accellerating. Not sure how that works on our old cars that dont have PSM, and many not even ABS.

Im looking for a 968, and the premium for a "LSD" which is really a TBD is not much less than a quaife. so for the same money i can get a newer, supposedly better quaife and then pay to install it. the savings in getting a closer car may make it worthwhile.
