Default Elephant Poly Bronze bushings review

Any folks here running the Elephant Racing Poly Bronze bushings? I'm replacing my suspension with KW v3 and am going to replace ALL bushings.

Looking for feedback on Poly Bronze vs other aftermarket non-rubber alternatives.

Thanks,

George

I have a mix of ER and Racers Edge bushings and love them both.

Stability on the track, especially under hard braking, was substantially improved.

I've also got a mix of RE and ER goods. Have the PolyBronzes. Only thing I can say is you do get some creaking I find, but I'm happy with all the bits n pieces. Good choice on suspension too George. You can get stiffer springs on request or they do have a clubsport package which might be worth considering.

yes of course, thats what the greasefittings are for you know?

we are talking rear sword bushings right? the polybronze things for the torsion things.

you have 4 grease points, just connect your greasegun and make it squirt

I too have a mix of Elephant and Racers Edge, but have had a different experience. While the poly-bronze spring-plate bushings have held up OK, can't say the same about the rest, especially the monoballs for the trailing arms... they are crap. Developed a ton of end-play in half a track season. Replaced them with the Racers Edge part and haven't had an issue since (a year and a half later).

It's tough to do any better than the products and service from Karl/Racers Edge.

Installed complete Racers Edge and Motons including A arms, castors, and everything in the back about 2 months ago and 1,000 track miles. You will not be disappointed. I have heard that machining the torsion bar end/receiver @ the blade while using a sealed bearing is the best thing to do (I have racers edge delrin). I just don't know who has those parts.

Just my two cents worth.

I have had the complete Elephant Racing setup on my car for 2 years now. They are fantastic! Quiet, smooth, compliant and the cornering is razor sharp. I must say that my car is not a dedicated track car though and so I could not comment on that type of abuse. For my application (street/track) I believe that my suspension, with ER parts, could not be better.

What DR951 said - polybronze have been in for 2 seasons with no wear or issue. The banana arm sphericals flog in half a season [track/ tarrmac rally 968] . RE sphericals going in next rebuild

How much of a PIA is the bushing job? I remember grinding away the old rubber bushing and having to have the Delrin bushing pressed on when helping a buddy of mine; scared me away from the job on my car. Easier solution? Would love to add the RE or Elephant goodies to my wish list...

I dissagree... there is MUCH less material to material contact on a sealed ball bearing than on the ER polybronze bushing. Also, bearings like that don't like cyclical oscillations like suspension movement. Case in point - the little needle bearings that support the clutch throwout fork. Anyone who's changed a clutch sees the wear those bearings cause on the shaft.

Search for a thread I started 2 winters ago. I fully document installing the ER bushings.
